#HIRED: Lili Uchida ‘20

This summer, Lili will stay right here in Colorado Springs as a research assistant for Dr. Bob Jacob in the Neuroscience department.

“I am excited about the opportunity to conduct research on the brain tissue of people who have lived with and without chronic traumatic encephalopathy, because traumatic brain injury is one of my favorite things to learn about! Ever since I recovered from an internal brain bleeding injury, I have been intrigued by the relationship between the brain and trauma. I am also hoping to learn more about how traumatic brain injury such as CTE affects brain structure, as I’d like to continue studying sports concussions after graduating CC.

My advice for those seeking positions: Keep asking around! For anyone in STEM, I would recommend continuing to reach out to professors, including professors at other schools if they are doing research that you are interested in. Also, PhD candidates at various institutions are often looking for summer interns and volunteers to help out with their projects.”

Congratulations, Lili! We’re proud of you!
