Young Stars of Science Tackle the World’s Most Critical Medical Challenges<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\u00a0Japanese Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED) and the Academy are now accepting applications for The Interstellar Initiative 2022\u20112023<\/strong>.

Designed to foster international, cross\u2011disciplinary research collaboration, Interstellar participants work together in teams to solve a fundamental challenge in human health and disease. Applications must be submitted by\u00a0May 24, 2022<\/strong>, to be considered for this prestigious program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Successful candidates are grouped into teams designed to stimulate collaboration and innovation. Each team is supported by a mentor whose experience and wisdom guide the development of a stress\u2011tested research proposal. Team members meet formally twice over six months and work together informally between the two workshops.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cInternational collaboration isn’t new to most of us, but the way we collaborated in the context of The Interstellar Initiative is very different. There are cultures of collaboration that you have to integrate in order to work together, and this is something I may not have experienced if it wasn’t for this program.\u201d<\/em>
