{"id":7119,"date":"2018-09-10T22:12:49","date_gmt":"2018-09-11T04:12:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.coloradocollege.edu\/careercenter\/?p=7119"},"modified":"2018-09-10T22:12:49","modified_gmt":"2018-09-11T04:12:49","slug":"u-s-pirg-fellowship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.coloradocollege.edu\/careercenter\/u-s-pirg-fellowship\/","title":{"rendered":"U.S. PIRG Fellowship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Speak Up For The Public Interest<br \/>\nWhen decisions are being made that affect our health, our safety, or our rights as consumers\u00a0and citizens, U.S. PIRG speaks up on behalf of the public.\u00a0Whether it\u2019s a decision about how to address the misuse of our life-saving antibiotics in<br \/>\nagriculture, or how to stop the mishandling of our personal information by companies like\u00a0Facebook and Equifax, or addressing our country\u2019s plastic waste crisis, the problems we work\u00a0on aren\u2019t progressive or conservative. They\u2019re just problems that we shouldn\u2019t tolerate any\u00a0longer.<\/p>\n<p>What It Means To Be A Fellow<br \/>\nYou won\u2019t just sit behind a desk. You\u2019ll be out in the real world, working to protect consumers\u00a0and enable citizens to lead healthier, safer, more secure lives. You\u2019ll be recruiting new groups to\u00a0join a coalition, speaking in a church basement or town hall to win a new endorsement,\u00a0organizing a news event or rally, meeting with an editorial board, or doing whatever else it takes\u00a0to get results. You\u2019ll run a grassroots campaign office each summer during your fellowship\u00a0where you\u2019ll hire and manage a staff of 20 canvassers to raise money, build our organization\u00a0and membership, and help win one of our key campaigns.\u00a0This is a two-year program, expressly designed to prepare future leaders with U.S. PIRG. We\u00a0look for smarts, leadership experience, top-notch written and verbal skills, and an eagerness to\u00a0learn.
