What\u2019s this class about?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

\u201cThe first person to testify seems innocent, until the other comes and cross-examines him.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Join Senior District Judge Mike Mayes in this Half Block course, which will focus on the cross-examination of witnesses, especially experts, and the art of presenting a compelling case in the courtroom.<\/strong> These skillsets are not only helpful for those wishing to improve their Mock Trial performances, but also for those wishing to test out the trial lawyer’s life.<\/p>\n

Can \u2013 or should \u2013\u00a0an attorney advocate a theme during trial? Can\u00a0\u2013\u00a0or should\u00a0\u2013\u00a0an attorney employ a theme during cross-examination? How best can an attorney befriend and influence a jury? Is there a foolproof template for a successful cross-examination?\u00a0What is the best approach to control the recalcitrant expert witness?\u00a0Can you “convince” the Judge to help you?<\/p>\n

All of these questions and more, answered through the simulation of a real-life Capital Murder case and the cross-examination of real life witnesses.<\/strong> The course will conclude with a Q&A session on preparing for law school.<\/p>\n
