When done right, they\u2019re clean, concise, and well organized. And if you\u2019ve been following all the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/vault.com\/resumes\">great advice<\/a>\u00a0out there, yours should be in pretty good shape.<\/p>\n<p>Cover letters are different\u2014they\u2019re freewheeling, making them more difficult to write. Think of the resum\u00e9 as the multiple-choice part of a test, and the cover letter as the essay portion\u2014the essay portion where your teacher gives you a 7\/10, but you\u2019re not really sure why. It\u2019s so tough to know if your cover letter is being received well, and since they\u2019re so personal and subjective, finding advice relating to your specific industry and career goals can be difficult.
