On Friday, Sept. 11, 2026, 11:00-11:30 am MST<\/strong>, <\/span><\/span>Prof. Stephanie Langin-Hooper<\/strong> (Southern Methodist University) will present \u201cTiny Things at the Kelsey: Miniature Artworks from Seleucia-on-the-Tigris<\/strong>,<\/span><\/span>\u201d discussing her current research on miniature artworks from the Seleucid and Parthian periods (ca. 300 BCE\u2013200 CE) in the Babylonian city of Seleucia-on-the-Tigris. Link to register<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n On Tuesday, Sept. 15, 11:00 am MST<\/strong><\/span>, Prof. Paul Cartledge<\/strong><\/span> (AG Leventis Senior Research Fellow Clare College, Cambridge University) will present \u201cPericles: Statesman, Demagogue, Eccentric<\/span><\/strong>,\u201d re-examining Pericles’ illustrious career under three main subtitular rubrics: statesman (did Thucydides get that right?), demagogue (was Pericles really so different from his rival would-be \u2018leaders of the demos\u2019?) and eccentric (just how odd were his public-facing career and private life?). Link to register<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n On Wednesday, Sept. 23, 6:00 MST<\/strong><\/span>, Prof. Eric Cline<\/strong> (Classics and Anthropology, The George Washington University) will present the first AIA Archaeology Hour talk of the 2026-27 season: \u201cHomer, Hollywood, and Historical Context: Comments scribbled in a Bronze Age Archaeologist\u2019s Notebook<\/strong><\/span>.\u201d This lecture will briefly put two movies (2004’s Troy<\/em> and 2026’s The Odyssey<\/em>, which have brought Homer\u2019s epics to the silver screen) into historical context by discussing what we know (or think we know) about the end of the Late Bronze Age, the identity of the Sea Peoples, whether there was actually a Trojan Horse, and other questions that are likely to have come up around the dinner table Link to register<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Performances and Exhibits<\/p>\n National Awards and Fellowships<\/span><\/p>\n\n
