This talk presents the initial results of the American-Egyptian City of the Baboon Project which allow a recalibration and deeper understanding of the Roman period city-center and its dismantling in the Fatimid period.<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>On <strong><span style=\"color: #008000\">Saturday, April 18, 1:15-5:45 pm<\/span><\/strong> in <strong><span style=\"color: #800000\">Eaton Humanities 250<\/span><\/strong>, the CU Boulder Classics Department will host <strong>&#8220;Celebrating the Timelessness of Latin Poetry with Carole Newlands,&#8221;<\/strong> an all-day celebration of Professor Newland&#8217;s distinguished career. Five honored guest presenters will offer talks on works of Latin literature from the Classical Period to the Renaissance and beyond. Details of the program <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.coloradocollege.edu\/cca\/files\/2026\/03\/Newlands-celebration-program-scaled.jpg\">may be viewed here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>On <strong><span style=\"color: #008000\">Wednesday, April 22, 4:30-6:00 pm<\/span> <span style=\"color: #800000\">in the CU Art Museum<\/span><\/strong>, the CU Boulder Classics Dept. holds the opening reception celebrating the brand new exhibit of Greek and Roman coins at the CU Art Museum! <strong>&#8220;Expressions of Identity in Ancient Greek Coins\u201d<\/strong> features coins in the collections of the CUAM and CU Classics friend John Nebel and builds on the work done by students in a class on Greek coins taught by Professor <span role=\"presentation\"><u><a id=\"m_2956839647695327208OWAd9bc3fca-344a-d9bb-b8b4-3a2bd0b50d82\" href=\"https:\/\/www.colorado.edu\/classics\/elspeth-dusinberre\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.colorado.edu\/classics\/elspeth-dusinberre&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1773365891574000&amp;usg=AOvVaw1sbKFLp5-poOkFYMfm0rFv\">Beth Dusinberre<\/a><\/u><\/span> in fall 2025. In addition to the spectacular new display of Greek coins, CU\u2019s Roman coins from the Wilton Jaffee collection are displayed anew \u2014 joined by a coin of Mr. Nebel\u2019s minted by Brutus and celebrating the Ides of March.
