We have three central goals:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First, to <strong>promote the study of the Classical languages and Classical antiquity<\/strong>\u00a0in the schools, colleges and universities of Colorado.<\/li>\n<li>Second, to <strong>foster fellowship among those with a shared interest in the Classics<\/strong>\u00a0and provide the broadest possible framework for activities related to the Classical world.<\/li>\n<li>Third, as an organization for teachers, to <strong>help students of the Classics<\/strong>\u00a0obtain the greatest benefit from their courses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>What we do:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The CCA holds <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.coloradocollege.edu\/cca\/meetings-constitution\/\"><strong>two annual meetings<\/strong><\/a>, in fall and spring, to promote networking between Latin teachers, encourage coordination on outreach events related to Classics, and host speakers and roundtables covering research in the ancient world or issues in Latin pedagogy.<\/li>\n<li>Each year the CCA solicits nominations for its annual statewide\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/sites.coloradocollege.edu\/cca\/cca-teacher-of-the-year-award\/\">Teacher of the Year Award<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0recognizing an outstanding K-12 teacher in Latin or Classics more broadly.<\/li>\n<li>Finally, CCA maintains:\n<ul>\n<li>an up-to-date <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.coloradocollege.edu\/cca\/latin-programs\/\"><strong>list of Latin programs<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0in Colorado,<\/li>\n<li>a page offering resources and guidance (for use by parents, students, and educators) pursuing <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.coloradocollege.edu\/cca\/advocacy-for-k-12-latin\/\">advocacy for K-12 Latin<\/a> in Colorado schools,<\/li>\n<li>a <a href=\"http:\/\/sites.coloradocollege.edu\/cca\/directory-of-colorado-classicists\/\"><strong>directory of the state&#8217;s Classics teachers and scholars<\/strong><\/a>,<\/li>\n<li>a <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.coloradocollege.edu\/cca\/files\/2021\/08\/COLatinEmploymentLicensureGuideOct2019.pdf\"><strong>guide to employment and licensure<\/strong><\/a> as a Latin teacher in the state,<\/li>\n<li>and an electronic <strong>mailing list<\/strong>\u00a0where members can share information about Classics-related events.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please considering <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.coloradocollege.edu\/cca\/membership\/\">joining the CCA<\/a><\/strong> or its mailing list by contacting Pierre Habel, CCA&#8217;s Communications Director (<a href=\"mailto:commsdirectorofcca@gmail.com\">commsdirectorofcca@gmail.com<\/a>).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Who we are: The Colorado Classics Association (CCA) is a volunteer organization of\u2014and for\u2014teachers and friends of Classics in the state of Colorado.
