One of the library poems has now become the victim\/beneficiary of an anonymous shenanigan here at Tutt Library, Colorado College!<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Going to the Library,&#8221; was made into a promotional flyer for Tutt (where I work). Copies of this flyer hang in campus bathrooms. This morning a colleague found an amended version of the flyer in one of the library bathrooms. Someone turned my sweet little poem into a piece of smut!!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/jessyrandall.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/goingtothelibrarydirty.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1431\" title=\"goingtothelibrarydirty\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/jessyrandall.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/goingtothelibrarydirty.jpg?w=300\" height=\"226\" width=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Less scandalously, in the library shenanigan poem in the book, &#8220;The Library at Night,&#8221; the shenanigans are perpetrated by the books themselves:<\/p>\n<p>The Library At Night<\/p>\n<p>The empty library<br \/>\nstutters awake, words<br \/>\nfalling out of their paper beds,<br \/>\nalarms of exclamation points<br \/>\nringing from every corner.<\/p>\n<p>The librarians are gone,<br \/>\nsound asleep at home,<br \/>\nshushing their dreams.<\/p>\n<p>They have forgotten<br \/>\nall about the library<br \/>\nand what is inside.<\/p>\n<p>This is why, in the morning,<br \/>\nthe books are not where<br \/>\nthey are supposed to be.<\/p>\n<p>This is why, in the daytime,<br \/>\nthe library feels vaguely alive,<br \/>\nobjects pulsating on the shelves,<br \/>\nglowing like brains.<\/p>\n<p>(first appeared in <a href=\"http:\/\/hatpoetry.com\/\"><em>The Hat<\/em><\/a>, 2005)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My new collection of poems, Injecting Dreams into Cows (Red Hen Press, 2012), contains several poems about libraries and least one about library shenanigans.
