The &#8220;News Diet&#8221; and the Meaning of the Newspaper for Ordinary Early-Twentieth-Century Americans<\/h4>\n<p class=\"small\">Dr. Hulden presented her digital research project that addresses the \u201cnews diet\u201d of ordinary early-twentieth-century Americans. She shared her data sources from the Chronicling America Project and how her methodology and analysis draws upon digital tools for topic modeling (more about topic modeling <a href=\"http:\/\/journalofdigitalhumanities.org\/2-1\/topic-modeling-and-digital-humanities-by-david-m-blei\/\">here<\/a>). She also discussed how she developed her project through a variety of digital tools, primarily GIS mapping software, and shared advice for faculty that want to embark on a digital research project.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"columnsxxe rightxxe\">\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center\">Workshops<\/h2>\n<h5 class=\"small\" style=\"text-align: center\">Members of the ITS Educational Solutions Team and Crown Faculty Center lead several workshops on tools and software for research and teaching. Jennifer Golightly (ITS) and Tip Ragan (History) presented on their project, <a href=\"http:\/\/sites.coloradocollege.edu\/dlaatcc\/projects\/policing-homosexuality\/\">Policing Homosexuality: 18th Century Paris<\/a>, as well as <a href=\"http:\/\/sites.coloradocollege.edu\/dlaatcc\/courses\/\">two DLA courses<\/a> they co-taught during the Spring of 2018. Michael Sorensen (DLA Intern) also lead a workshop entitled &#8220;Analyzing Humanities Data with Nodegoat&#8221;.
