In this half-block class, we will discover the intricate history of the Italian Renaissance as experienced through the music, art, and food of the banchetto! Our approach will be both historical and practical, engaging a broad range of materials, including music, documentary, cinema (e.g. the historical The Profession of Arms, 2001), art, graphic novels, and… food itself. Additionally, we will examine replicas of Renaissance instruments such as recorders, crumhorns, hurdy gurdy, pipe bladder, lute, and organ.
For our culminating experience, we will prepare a renaissance banquet for all to celebrate, and handmade dishes in a “magical” environment!
Join us for the half-block in this tantalizing adventure: “The Renaissance Banchetto!”
It will be a fun (and tasty) way to learn about the Italian Culture. Questa classe sarà … interessante e deliziosa!
