Campus is quiet for a moment until Summer Session begins, and finally we can truly reflect.
What a year it has been. What truly impressive, changemaking students we have at Colorado College. They inspire me with their courage, empathy, innovative ideas, and heart.
Our 2023 graduates pivoted and adapted when the pandemic disrupted the world and their campus experience.
They rallied for one another by seeking more comprehensive mental health services for students, staff, and faculty, helping us build and support a thriving campus community.
While collaborating in classes, they learned that great ideas come when we don’t all think the same way.
And they excelled. They won national fellowships and awards, presented at national conferences, published papers, and were victorious in athletics.
Where are they going? They’ve been hired by private companies, nonprofits, media companies, consulting firms, and NGOs. Many are going on to master’s and Ph.D. programs.
We certainly will see more of them in the world, solving climate issues, surprising us with new innovations, running for office, fighting racism and inequity, and wowing us with their creativity. They will stand out for thinking differently, taking on the tough challenges, and making positive change in the world. Because that’s what CC grads have done for nearly 150 years.
On Sunday, we saw our graduates exercise their right to peaceful protest. At CC, we encourage and support activism as well as listening to perspectives and experiences different from our own.
Our graduates are our hope for the future. They will catalyze the creation of a more just world and we know that they will continue to make us proud.
