Kuang delved into the topic of Asian American representation in literature, exploring its evolution, impact, and the challenges it presents to writers today. Kuang, known for her bestselling works including the Poppy War Trilogy and Yellowface, drew from her personal experiences and extensive research to paint a nuanced picture of representation in Asian American literature.

For the second year in a row, CC has won a Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine. The award is given to higher ed institutions that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and comes after years of hard work put forth through an institutional commitment to antiracism and a focus on social mobility and access. CC’s two-time winning of this award is in large part thanks to the efforts of its new Chief Diversity Officer, Rosalie Rodriguez.

CC Professor Heads to Costa Rica as Fulbright Scholar

In April, Dr. Corina McKendry was selected as a Fulbright Scholar for 2024-25. In January, she’ll head to Costa Rica for six months to study local governments’ climate actions.
“Costa Rica is well known for its commitment to addressing climate change and for being a leader in conservation,” says McKendry. “In many ways, this tiny country sets the global standard for what’s possible. But I’m interested in what these efforts look like at the municipal level.”

ALHAMDU Archives the Present and Future at the FAC

The FAC recently welcomed its newest exhibition to campus. ALHAMDU | MUSLIM FUTURISM is an evolving multidisciplinary exhibition and archive created by MIPSTERZ, a non-traditional arts and culture collective for emerging Muslim, Muslim-adjacent, and allied creatives. The exhibition features a variety of work from paintings, photography, illustrations, and sculptures to installations, digital media, soundscapes, film, virtual reality, and interactive experiences.
ALHAMDU’s presence on campus is an event three years in the making, requiring the efforts of countless people at the FAC, CC, and in the Colorado Springs community. It now takes up the entirety of the FAC’s second floor and is the largest temporary exhibition to ever show in the museum.
