Winter Commencement, set for Sunday, Dec. 15 at 1 p.m., is an opportunity to recognize and celebrate students completing their undergraduate studies prior to our May Commencement ceremony.
This year’s ceremony will be held in Shove Memorial Chapel, featuring remarks from Interim President Manya Whitaker and the Commencement Address by CC Assistant Professor of Education Dr. M. Nickie Coomer.
Dr. Coomer has been teaching in the Education Department at CC for three years. She has taught for the Stroud Scholars Program and Bridge Scholars and designed and led a study abroad course on progressive pedagogies—including Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and Waldorf approaches—in Italy. She has also led professional learning workshops on antiracist pedagogy for the Crown Center for Teaching, taken four students to national and international educational conferences, and connected CC students with leading national scholars in Disability Studies in Education to co-author peer-reviewed publications.
Students, faculty, and staff are warmly invited to attend in celebration of our winter graduates. No RSVP is required.
Faculty members who would like to march in the ceremony should sign up no later than 5 p.m. on Thursday, December 12. Regalia can be picked up at the CC Bookstore Dec. 12-13 between 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
