In the next few weeks, many of us will be taking time off and finding time to connect with others. Winter Break is an opportunity to invest in your mental health and wellness. This is also a time to celebrate the achievements of 2024.
At the same time, holidays can bring added stress, feelings of isolation, or personal challenges, and it is important that we all take care of ourselves and one another. We want to remind you of resources that are available for your support such as our Employee Assistance Program (EAP), which can be reached at (800) 272-7255 and provides confidential counselling and access to other resources. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is available 24/7 at 988 for anyone in immediate need of assistance.
In addition, we know that this can be a time when people are more likely to engage in unhealthy consumption of alcohol and drugs. We are committed to promoting safer, healthier choices. While alcohol may be consumed at campus social activities, working while impaired is prohibited. Excessive alcohol consumption should also be avoided. Please work together to help ensure a safe experience for participants in any campus activities.
CC complies with the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988 and the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act Amendment of 1989. Our Drug-Free Campus and Workplace policy states that the unlawful use, possession, distribution, manufacture, or dispensing of illicit drugs (including marijuana) or alcohol is strictly prohibited on Colorado College property or as part of any College activities.
Violations of the Drug-Free Campus and Workplace policy can lead to disciplinary actions, which may range from a warning to dismissal, based on the seriousness of the violation. In some cases, employees might also need to complete a suitable rehabilitation program. Additionally, any unlawful sale or distribution of drugs or alcohol could result in a referral to law enforcement.
If you or someone you know is struggling with chemical dependency, please remember that you’re not alone. As mentioned above, our EAP is here to offer support and guidance. These resources are confidential and will not be reported to the College or state authorities.
We truly appreciate your hard work and dedication to CC. I hope you have the opportunity to take some well-deserved time off this season and enjoy a healthy and fulfilling start to the new year.
Sincerely,
