Faculty and staff are invited to hear Associate Professor of Philosophy Helen Daly present “African and Western Conceptions of Persons” on Tuesday, Mar. 4 from noon-1:15 p.m. in Gaylord Hall in the Worner Campus Center.
In the Western philosophical tradition, two central questions about persons have long been distinguished and discussed: What is it to be a person? And what is minimally necessary in order to be the same person over time? Daly will contrast how Western and African philosophers have answered these questions in order to reveal different ways of conceptualizing who and what we are. She will also suggest ways that each of us can apply these different conceptual tools in our own lives. Learn more about this event.
Lunch will be provided. Please register by Wednesday, Feb. 26.
