Ditch the Dumpster Staff – Volunteers Needed |
The Office of Sustainability, in partnership with Residential Experience, coordinates Ditch the Dumpster, an end-of-year move-out donation program. The goal of this program is to divert items from landfills by donating them back into the CC and local Colorado Springs communities. Last year, over 10,000 lbs. of donations were collected. We are seeking staff and faculty volunteers to help with sorting, organizing, and moving donations during the week of May 12-21. If you have any questions, please reach out to Program Manager Mae Rohrbach at mrohrbach@coloradocollege.edu. More information about available shifts is in the attached document. Feel free to sign up for one or more shifts — the more, the merrier!

Liberal Arts in Correctional Facilities (LACF) Initiative |
The LACF Initiative is currently seeking educators to teach courses in the 2025-2026 academic year and beyond. The mission of the program is to address inequities in higher education by expanding access for incarcerated persons. Through the LACF, CC faculty and qualified staff offer for-credit courses at no cost in the Youthful Offenders System (YOS) facility in Pueblo, which serves a population of 19 to 25-year-olds. Students receive credit through Pueblo Community College (PCC), and courses are guaranteed to transfer as degree requirements at any Colorado public institution of higher learning. CC faculty or qualified staff receive a grant-funded stipend to teach evening courses (typically twice a week) over the course of a semester. Please click here to express interest, or email jradke@coloradocollege.edu with questions.

Interested in Joining a CC Block Away or Field Study Trip? |
We are building a database of CC faculty and staff who are interested in joining blocks away or domestic field study travel programs as the Off-Campus Program Assistant (formerly called the Second Responsible Adult). These positions offer the opportunity to accompany off-campus programs, supporting the lead faculty with student group management, student services, and logistics. All travel expenses are paid by the program and in some instances additional compensation may be possible. The survey will provide us with your interests, skills, and availability at different points of the year so that we can include you in the database which faculty can use as they seek to find a strong candidate to be their program assistant. There is no obligation at this time, adding yourself to the database is simply an opportunity to be considered for the OPA position as faculty build their block away or field experience. Interested? Fill out the survey linked here and we can add you to our database.

Feature Your Event and Celebrate During Earth Week |
Earth Week is just around the corner! This year, CC’s Earth Week celebrations will take place from April 21-25 (Block 8 Week 1). If your group is planning to host an event during this time and would like to be part of the wider Earth Week celebrations, we’d love to connect with you. Each year, our office, alongside campus and community partners, organizes a full week of events and programming for the CC community.
