Planning to offer a 2026 off-campus summer course?
SUMMIT course proposals for all Summer 2026 off-campus blocks are due by Monday, Sept. 29. The SUMMIT Proposal Form is open now, and we are here to help you with everything from logistics to budgeting as you plan your proposal. Please bring any questions to Kellee or Allen in Global Ed as you decide the where, what, when, why, and how of your summer course.

Maybe an off-campus block is in your plans for the 2026-27 year?
We know it sounds very early, but to enroll students this spring we need to have proposals in during the fall. It’s just the nature of study away. If you hope to offer an off-campus block in the 2026-27 Academic Year, you have until Thursday, Oct. 23, to upload the proposal on SUMMIT.
Set up an appointment with Allen or Kellee to walk through the proposal process, get help with budgeting, discuss potential partner-providers, or just to discuss an idea you are hoping to turn into a reality.

Taking a class off campus this fall?
Please complete the required “Taking Academic Courses Off Campus” CANVAS course first.
The Center for Global Education & Field Study developed this course for faculty and staff, and included guidance and College policy on everything from transportation to per diem, and staffing to emergency management plans. It is essentially our handbook for all off campus travel with students, and is required for all faculty who plan to take students off campus as part of an academic course.
If you are planning to take students off campus for anything from a day trip to a full semester away, you are required to complete the essential modules for each travel type (Domestic Field Trip, International Travel, Blocks or Semesters Away) prior to departure. Completing the course one time allows you to travel with students throughout the upcoming year.
For any questions about taking students off campus for field experience, please reach out to Drew Cavin, Director of Field Study & Mountain Campuses.

Build a Block Away Workshop
Tuesday, Sept. 4
2:30 – 4:30 p.m
Armstrong Board Room
Please RSVP to Allen Bertsche by Friday, Aug. 29
Build a Block Away is a hands-on workshop to help you move from concept to proposal, complete with information on best practices, budgeting, itinerary building, developing partnerships, and staffing for a block away. It is ideal for faculty considering a first-time offering off campus, whether your goal is a proposal for 2026 or just early planning for a future course.
We are offering this workshop in early September, ahead of the Summer 2026 and 2026-27 Academic Year proposal deadlines, though we recommend working with Global Education prior to the workshop if your intention is to produce a proposal this September or October.
