Welcome back! Once again, every second Wednesday of the block, we will share updates about various college initiatives including progress reports of the standing and temporary operational groups, important organizational and operational updates, College policy administration, Work of the College Series events, and other helpful information. 

College Events Operational Group (CEOG)
The CEOG finalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which is designed for planners to ensure that all key departments at CC—including AV, Facilities, the Office of College Events, Robson Arena, the Fine Arts Center, Parking & Campus Safety, and Sodexo Custodial—have a shared understanding of their responsibilities when supporting campus events. The purpose of this agreement is to clarify roles, improve communication, and promote effective collaboration among campus partners. The MOU will be updated and signed annually by campus partners to maintain a clear understanding of each department’s event responsibilities.

Space Governance Operational Group (SGOG)
The first review window for the Space Request Process Pilot will close at the end of this block (Block 2), on Wednesday, Oct. 15. For the pilot year (Fall 2025), the deadline has been extended to the last day of Block 2, with responses provided by the end of Block 3. You can find more information about the space request process and the form to submit your request here. Please note that academic departments working on new tenure-track faculty hires should not use this form but instead work directly through the Dean of the Faculty’s Office.

Parent Experience Operational Group
The Parent Experience Standing Operational Group has finalized its charge and goals for the academic year. Building on the recommendations from the Temporary Operational Group, our team is focused on advancing a more holistic parent experience that aligns with and supports student success at CC. Specifically, our goals center on four key areas:

With this framework in place, our group is beginning to work through implementation and will soon begin bringing these priorities to life.

Enterprise Risk Management
The Enterprise Risk Management Operations Group met with this year’s cohort to review last year’s work, discuss emerging risks, and set proposed goals for the year. Goals for this year include:

Incident Management

IMT met during Block 1 and debriefed the water leak at Ticknor.  Arrangements were made to house the impacted students and included arrangements for them to gather necessary personal items. The Residential Experience Team did an excellent job communicating with parents regarding the situation. Facilities was able to bring the residential spaces back online within two days. The overall collaborative effort assisted in minimizing impacts.

A discussion of the swatting incidents occurring across college campuses nationwide, including Colorado, was discussed. Staff members from Campus Safety have attended training presented by the FBI regarding swatting calls.

We would like to inform you about an upcoming emergency exercise that occurred on Tuesday, Sep. 30 at 8 a.m. This drill was part of our ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and preparedness of our campus community. The exercise took place near the intersection of Nevada Ave. and Dale St. The CC Incident Management Team participated in an emergency exercise with partners from Common Spirit Health, Colorado Springs Police Department, and Colorado Springs Fire Department. The exercise allowed local emergency responders to work together on a mock disaster scenario and included nursing students with moulage (simulated injuries) acting as patients.

Minor policy changes/updates (minor policy changes do not require review or comment):

Changes to the Vacation Policy: The revised vacation policy provides clearer, more consistent guidance on vacation accrual and use for both hourly and exempt staff, aligning with best practices and legal requirements.

Elimination of the College Sponsored Community Service Policy: This policy will be absorbed by including an additional paragraph to specifically address it into the Staff Volunteering Policy. Because this change has no impact on the way the College treats College Sponsored Community Service, no review/comment is necessary.
