MUSIC LESSONS FOR EVERYONE AT CC

|
Adjunct music lessons are available to all Colorado College students. The Music Department offers private lessons by professional performers in all the instruments of the Western orchestra; voice; bluegrass; harpsichord; classical, electric and bass guitar; and Ableton Live. To begin lesson registration for Spring ’26, complete the Lesson Intake Survey. Registration deadline is Wednesday, Jan. 28 at 4 p.m. Financial aid is available. For questions, contact musiclessons@coloradocollege.edu. Faculty, staff, and community members may contact our music instructors directly about private music lessons.

Connect with others and make music together! The Music Department offers a wide variety of ensembles, all of which present at least one concert each semester. Visit our Music Ensembles webpage to learn more. Concert Band, Chamber Orchestra, and Collegium Musicum are open to community members as well as CC Students. Tiger Jazz is supplemented by community members when instrument positions aren’t filled by CC students.

CC Chamber Chorus Auditions Friday, Jan. 23 Packard 136 Schedule an audition time on Sign Up Genius The Chamber Chorus is a select choir of 20-30 voices open to students and, when space allows, recent alums. The ensemble performs music in many styles, both a cappella and with instruments. Rehearsals are every Tuesday from 4-5:30 p.m. A prepared audition piece is not required, but if you have one you are strongly encouraged to bring it!

MU228: Order, Chaos, & The Creative Mind with Professor Ofer Ben-Amots In a world shaped by digital information and artificial intelligence, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by constant media and cultural noise. This course explores how creativity can bring clarity and order to chaos. Open to all students, with or without prior artistic or musical experience, the course invites you to develop a personal project in music, writing, visual art, movement, digital media, or interdisciplinary forms. Collaboration will be encouraged as we study sources of inspiration, creative processes, and the role of the arts in understanding our complex environment. The course concludes with a final presentation. Fulfills the Creative Process Gen. Ed. requirement.

MU228: Indigenous Technologies with Visiting Instructor Ever Reyes Explore Indigenous contributions to early radio.
|
- Conduct archival research on Indigenous influence in early radio/technology
- Work with music, sound, and print archives from the Library of Congress
- Investigate the relationship between larger social structures and individual/cultural agency
- Learn how music, sound, and print archives can provide insight into social structures, power dynamics, cultural, and individual behavior
- Reflect on the limitations and affordances of archival research in understanding society

Jeri Jorgensen Chosen to Conduct Pazardjik Symphony Violin instructor and Colorado College Chamber Orchestra co-conductor Jeri Jorgensen is one of only two Americans chosen to conduct the Pazardjik Symphony as part of the 2026 International Conducting Competition and Master Class in Pazardjik, Bulgaria in March 2026! From over 40 applicants worldwide, 12 were selected. Please join us in congratulating Jorgensen on this huge honor.

Abe Mamet ’17 Featured in The Washington Post Jazz composer and French horn player Abe Mamet was recently featured in a Washington Post article lauding his septet’s new album Levitate the Heavy Part. While a student at CC, Mamet received a student-faculty collaborative research grant from the Mellon Foundation to work with Professor Ryan Bañagale to study the history of the horn in jazz, and to transcribe work from its most important forebears, including Julius Watkins, David Amram, and Willie Ruff. Norbert McGettigan ’19 Plays at The Grand Ole Opry In December, double bass player Norbert McGettigan played at the Grand Ole Opry with Vince Gill and Jason Carter, among others. McGettigan was a music minor and studied bluegrass with Bluegrass Director Keith Reed during his time at CC. Hear them jamming backstage on Instagram!
