The Centennial State Tournament Comes to Campus
|
CC will host the Centennial State Tournament, an annual speech and debate competition that serves as a qualifying event for a national tournament held in June. Students from across the United States will be on campus from February 11-14 to compete in an impressive lineup of events, including three forms of debate and 12 speech categories.
Tournament activities will take place in Cornerstone, Armstrong, Palmer, and the Worner Center. During this time, the campus community can expect increased foot traffic in these spaces, as well as the lively energy that comes with speech events—some of which may include raised voices, expressive movement, or theatrical props. Participants will park in Robson Garage and/or Lot W8. Thank you for helping us extend a warm welcome to our visiting competitors and for your flexibility as campus hosts this exciting event.

Sustaining Traditions and Dreaming of Futures

As a small group of students gathered to plan CC’s 2025 Fashion Show, they discussed the future of fashion and the meaning of futurism. At the next meeting, Ashanty Garcia ’27 asked to share a statement she had written.
Garcia, who would take over the leadership of the Sustainable Fashion Club after founder Nathalie San Fratello graduated in 2025, inspired the group with her vision. It provided a broader context for the theme of the 2025 show: “Dreamspace: Futures of Fashion.”

Writing the CC Way: Style, Voice, and Tone
|
How does the CC brand come to life through words? Find out at the next Work of the College: Brand Refresh Miniseries session on Thursday, Feb. 12, from 1-2 p.m. in Bemis Great Hall, hosted by the Office of Communications & Marketing.
This interactive session introduces CC’s refreshed Editorial Style Guide, highlighting what’s new, what’s been clarified, and how it can support your everyday writing. We’ll also explore voice and tone—when to use expressive versus functional writing, how to adapt for different audiences and contexts, and yes, when it’s okay to break the rules.
If you write for CC in any capacity and have ever wondered, “What’s the CC way to say this?”—this session is for you.
