I’m writing to share insight into a multi-year strategic process currently underway at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College (FAC).
In all spaces of the College, we strive to align programs and resources to best serve students, faculty, and staff, while also honoring our responsibility to the broader regional community. Within CC’s liberal arts mission, the FAC holds a distinctive role—bridging campus and community through cultural engagement, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and deepening students’ preparation to tackle complex human challenges.
With these purposes in mind, the FAC leadership team has started reimagining the FAC’s programmatic approach, operations, and brand narrative. The goal of this work is to create a more sustainable organizational structure while expanding the FAC’s capacity to connect to our campus and community, to inspire, and to educate.
Student, faculty, staff, alumni, and community voices will play a role in the FAC’s reimagining efforts throughout 2026 as we work toward a relaunch of the FAC in 2027.
Here’s what to expect this year:
|
- Winter-Spring 2026
The student-run CC Consulting Club is examining how students and faculty currently engage with the FAC, and identifying potential pathways to deepen academic integration, interdisciplinary collaboration, and engagement across campus.
|
- Late Spring-Fall 2026
The FAC program directors will assemble working groups from across the College and city to translate spring insights, alongside findings from the ongoing Institutional Review and other available data, into programmatic and operational redesigns. Simultaneously, the Office of Communications & Marketing will collaborate with the community to integrate the FAC brand into Colorado College with a refreshed narrative, look, and feel for the greater community, finishing an effort started several years ago.
|
The FAC will not stand still while this vital work takes place. The theatre, museum, and Bemis School of Art continue to provide dynamic programming for the campus and greater Colorado Springs community, with select program modifications being piloted during the upcoming 2026-27 season.
The FAC has a rich history serving as a cultural anchor for Colorado Springs and now as a key differentiator for the College. It expands what’s possible in a liberal arts education through access to a professional theatre, a museum featuring a nationally significant collection of art from the Southwest, and a community art school. The reimagining work will further clarify and strengthen the FAC’s pivotal role in the work we do as a College.
For an early glimpse at what’s in store for the FAC’s 2026-27 liminal season and to learn more about this work, I hope you’ll join us at the Fine Arts Center Look Ahead event on Friday, April 3, from 5-8 p.m.
