I woke up this morning once again to news of senseless violence against the LGBTQIA+ community. This time, tragically at a nightclub in our hometown of Colorado Springs. 

My heart goes out to everyone impacted by what we can only imagine is a hate crime. Horrendous acts like this affect us all, and rates of violence against LGBTQIA+ members are on the rise. 

We are gathering as much information as we can but at this time authorities are only confirming the number of people killed and wounded and that they have a suspect in custody. Thankfully our students, faculty, and staff are on Fall Break. However that does not leave us immune. We will provide more information as soon as possible if our community is directly impacted.

Our support team members are connecting with LGBTQIA+ community members who are on campus, and will share details on resources and local gatherings shortly.

This is a time when we should all hold our loved ones close, accept the pain and sorrow of this tragedy, seek solace and comfort from those closest to us, and continue our fight to make the world a more just place.
