As we experience transitions at the Cabinet level, we are evaluating responsibilities and adjusting roles to serve our community more effectively.
The recent retirements in the cabinet provide us with an opportunity to redistribute responsibilities to provide more effective leadership for our Colorado College community. One of these opportunities is to provide more centralized and aligned leadership for administrative functions. To accomplish this, we are moving the Chief Operating Officer duties formerly performed by Robert Moore to the Dean of the College role. The position vacated by Mike Edmond’s retirement will not be filled.
Colorado law requires us to post this position and we will consider qualified internal candidates. However, it is my expectation that Pedro de Araujo will take on this expanded role as part of his continued leadership here at CC. Pedro is a valuable member of our leadership team who has been instrumental to the success of many institutional projects and initiatives including the development and reorganization of academic support offices and leading curricular and co-curricular areas of enrollment management, student success, and general education. He also provided thoughtful, student-focused leadership throughout our response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This restructured role will provide visionary and strategic leadership of college operations, ensuring they align with and support the mission, values, and goals of the college, including enhancing operational efficiency and effectiveness. It will retain the Dean of the College responsibilities for leading college efforts in student success and enrollment management and advising the Cabinet on college policies and strategic initiatives.
Sincerely,
