Commencement is Only Days Away!

We’re just days away from CC’s biggest celebration of the year: Commencement 2024! 

Dear Graduates, 

The time has come! This weekend, you will graduate and become alumni of Colorado College. We are so proud of you and look forward to honoring your achievements throughout Commencement weekend. Remember to share your experiences using #ColoradoCollege2024 on social media! 

Here are the final details and key reminders for Commencement 2024. 

Commencement Weekend:  

  • Baccalaureate, Saturday, May 18, 3-4 p.m., in Shove Memorial Chapel
    This event kicks off Commencement weekend with a chance to reflect and express gratitude. Rebecca Garcia, CC Professor of Mathematics, will give the Baccalaureate address.   
     
    Graduates will gather on the steps of Palmer Hall for the senior class photo at 2 p.m., then proceed directly to Shove Memorial Chapel to assemble for Baccalaureate. 
     
  • Commencement, Sunday, May 19, 8:30 a.m., in Ed Robson Arena
    This is the culmination of the academic year and a time to honor you, the graduates of the Class of 2024. Frieda Ekotto ’86 will deliver the Commencement address. Please remember to bring only your cell phone to Commencement, as there will be no storage option. Every graduate will be required to have gowns unzipped prior to entering into the arena. 

    Call time for graduates is 7:30 a.m. Graduates assemble on the quad between South Hall and Shove Memorial Chapel.

  • President’s Reception, Sunday, May 19, 11 a.m.
    Immediately following the Commencement ceremony, please join President L. Song Richardson on Tava Quad for light refreshments. 
NOTE: Baccalaureate and Commencement are open only to graduates and ticketed guests. A livestream for both ceremonies will be available online for those unable to attend in person.
 

Key Reminders 

  • Transfer tickets to your guests: The deadline for graduates to claim guest tickets is Wednesday, May 15. Don’t forget to transfer tickets to your guests via CC Ticketmaster. Guests must also create an account to claim transferred tickets and enter the venue (detailed transfer instructions are available here). All tickets are electronic and must be scanned from a mobile device.  
  • Cap and gown pickup: Be sure to pick up your regalia from the CC Bookstore between 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Thursday, May 16 or Friday, May 17.  
  • Mandatory Commencement rehearsal: Friday, May 17, 11 a.m. (10:45 a.m. line up at the quad between South Hall and Shove Memorial Chapel). All graduates are required to attend rehearsal in order to walk in Sunday’s ceremony. After the rehearsal, graduates are invited to stick around for a celebratory BBQ lunch on the concourse level of Ed Robson Arena, hosted by the annual giving and alumni offices (this event is for seniors only).
  • GradImages: Friday, May 17, 1-4 p.m. GradImages will be available in the Chapman Room of Ed Robson Arena to take individual and group photos of graduates in their Commencement regalia (cap and gown). Once images are processed, you will be able to review and select specific photos for purchase at gradimages.com
  • Senior class photo: Saturday, May 18, 2 p.m. Graduates will gather on the steps of Palmer Hall for a group photo with their classmates. Cap and gown required.
  • Call time for graduates on Commencement morning is 7:30 a.m. Graduates will assemble on the quad between South Hall and Shove Memorial Chapel. Doors to Ed Robson Arena will open to guests at 7:30 a.m. Guests should be seated by 8:20 a.m. The event will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. and will conclude by 11 a.m. Please allow ample time for traffic, parking, and entry into the venue. 
  • Departmental Receptions: Review the full schedule of department-specific receptions, most of which take place Saturday afternoon after Baccalaureate. Students will receive invitations directly from their academic departments. 
  • FREE admission to the FAC during Commencement weekend
    The Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College is offering free admission to the museum May 17-18 for friends and families in town for Commencement weekend. Use code Commencement2024 if purchasing tickets online, or let the front desk know when you arrive. PLUS, Friday night only, get BOGO tickets to Rent on stage in the FAC theatre. (Discount code: GradFamBOGO).  

Parking and Road Closures 

On Commencement morning, guests and volunteers may park anywhere on campus (no fees or permits apply), except the third floor of the Ed Robson Arena parking garage on East Dale St., which is reserved for guests with limited mobility who require parking close to the venue. Golf carts will also be available from parking areas across campus to transport guests to Ed Robson Arena. 

Accessible parking is available on all levels of the Ed Robson Arena parking garage and in other parking lots on campus. 

On Sunday, May 19, expect traffic congestion in the area throughout the morning.  

The following roads will be closed for Commencement activities:

  • Cache La Poudre St. from N. Nevada Ave. to N. Cascade Ave.
  • Tejon St. from E. Dale St. to E. Cache La Poudre St.
