Tomorrow, Tuesday, Dec. 10 from noon-1:15 p.m., faculty and staff are invited to Gaylord Hall to hear Dr. Maybellene Gamboa, Assistant Professor of Organismal Biology & Ecology, present “Songbirds and Scientific Literacy: Animal Behavior and Adaptation in the Field and in the Classroom.”
Fluctuating environments may facilitate and maintain behavioral variation in all animals, including humans. Yet, identifying whether resulting observed behaviors are adaptive is challenging in natural populations. Dr. Gamboa will elaborate on prior work in avian adaptation across heterogeneous environments and relate her research in animal evolutionary ecology to ongoing efforts to improve scientific literacy in an age of unpredictable and overwhelming misinformation. Lunch will be provided. Please register in advance by 5 p.m. today. We look forward to seeing you there!
