With Block 5 in full swing and everyone back on campus, we are experiencing an uptick in viral illnesses, including influenza (flu). To help slow the spread of illness, we’d like to remind you of the steps you can take:
|
- Wash your hands frequently with soap and water, or use hand sanitizer.
- Wear a mask when you are around others. Surgical and KN95 masks are available at the WRC.
- Obtain a flu vaccine if you haven’t already done so. The vaccine can lessen severity of symptoms and duration of illness. Flu vaccines are available at the Student Health Center.
- Clean common surfaces with disinfectant cleaners.
|
Symptoms to monitor for include muscle aches, fatigue, headache, low-grade fever, cough, runny nose, sore throat, and vomiting/diarrhea (more likely in young children). If you are currently ill, the Student Health Center in Yalich Student Services (upstairs from the Mail Services) is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. for students, for both in-person and telehealth visits. Please call (719) 389-6384 to make an appointment. Please be aware, there has been limited same day availability this week at the health center but next day appointments are available.
|
Another great option is to sign up on MyHealthConnection and choose a Virtual Urgent Care visit. Testing for flu and other viral illnesses can be coordinated with the Health Center after your telehealth visit.
|
If you need health care after hours and prefer to be seen in person, the UCHealth Garden of the Gods Urgent Care location is open on evenings and weekends. You can also call your health insurance company as many have nurse line or telehealth options available.

We thank you all for your continued commitment to the health of our campus!
With gratitude, in community, and in good health,
