Block 6 Staff Council Meeting Summary

Staff Council’s Block 6 Meeting was held on Tuesday, Feb. 25. Here are some key points for your information.

Updates from Visitors
Staff Council heard updates from Janelle Taylor, Associate Vice President of Wellness, regarding mental health support services for staff, as well as Ryan Simmons, Vice President of Human Resources, and Valerie Gallegos, Associate Vice President of Talent Acquisition, regarding updates within HR and upcoming projects for their team.

Accessibility Discussion
Staff Council discussed current accessibility concerns, including elevator outages and In the Loop no longer being recorded. It will be researched if the language that is emailed out surrounding outages can be amended, as well as the possibility of recording, but not live streaming, In the Loop in the future.

- Alyssa Tews and Sophie Braker will serve as Co-Elections Officers. They will work on reviewing the current elections policies and procedures and forming their committee.
- Jessi Burns will serve as Communications Officer and and Keeper of the Minutes. It will be researched if there is any AI technology available to assist with taking meeting minutes.

- When questions are submitted to the Ask Staff Council form, they are forwarded to Cabinet or other appropriate parties for an answer. Once we have that answer, we post it to the same webpage in the Answers from Cabinet to Recent Questions tab.
- You are welcome to ask questions anonymously, but if you do include your name and contact info, we will send the answer we receive directly to you.
