Join the Office of Communications & Marketing on Thursday, Feb. 12, 1-2 p.m. in Bemis Great Hall for the next Work of the College: Brand Refresh Miniseries event, “Writing the CC Way: Style, Voice, and Tone.” This session focuses on how our brand comes to life through words. We’ll dive into Colorado College’s refreshed Editorial Style Guide, noting how it’s tailored to terminology, practices, and nuances that are uniquely CC. We’ll walk through what’s new, what’s been clarified, and how the guide can serve as a useful tool for your everyday work.
This session also addresses voice and tone: how to write in a way that feels authentically CC, maintains clarity, and meets the needs of a wide variety of audiences and contexts. In an interactive session, we’ll explore the difference between expressive and functional writing, when each is most effective, and how to decide which to use (hint: you can break the Style Guide rules sometimes—yes, really!)
If you contribute to writing at CC in any way and have wondered, “What’s the CC way to say this?”, this session is for you.
