Providing support to our students during personal, academic, and interpersonal challenges is a vital part of our responsibilities at Colorado College. We are often among the first people our students turn to when they are experiencing distress. Student Health & Wellbeing has created a one-page guide, “Supporting a Student in Distress,” to help you determine when and how to reach out to campus resources when a student is overwhelmed, disruptive, or in crisis.
Our guide follows proven methods for effective responses based on the behavior of a student. We have an abundance of resources available on campus—including experts providing services and guidance specific to CC students. Contact information for a variety of offices and individuals is listed in the guide along with QR codes to submit a Care Report and access further academic and wellness supports.
Please print this guide and consider posting in faculty and staff common areas for quick reference. A pdf of the document is available on our Student Health & Wellbeing webpage.
If you are interested in learning more about how to best use this tool, please jtaylor2024@coloradocollege.edu“> email Janelle Taylor, AVP of Wellness, to facilitate our workshop, “Care in Action: Helping Without Fixing,” with your team. This workshop dives deeper into common signs of distress and includes an opportunity to practice how to respond and activate resources.
Thank you for continuing to guide and support our students.
