Division III Week is an opportunity to share information about Division III, its priorities, and—most importantly—celebrate the accomplishments our student-athletes. Today, meet tigers from our Volleyball, Women’s Tennis, Men’s Swim & Dive, and Men’s Track & Field teams and read more about their teams recent academic accomplishments:

Sport: Women’s Tennis Major: Molecular Biology Favorite Class: Introduction to Shakespeare Top CC Academic Moment/Accomplishment: Getting an A in physics Special Talents/Skills: Putting smiles on people’s faces Hobbies: Rock climbing, hiking, and baking gluten-free cookies Favorite Spot on Campus: Goodacre D, East Campus Balcony Proudest Moment at CC: Beating Metro State last year with my team Community Service Experience: I volunteer by tutoring children at a local elementary school, Parents Night Out, Special Olympics, Habitat for Humanity, Southern Colorado Black & Pink, and various other Colorado Springs community organizations through my sorority.

Sport: Men’s Track & Field Major: Physics & Chemistry Favorite Class: Quantum and Statistical Mechanics Top CC Academic Moment/Accomplishment: I’ve been leading a scientific research project that resulted in a first-author preprint, in review for a journal publication. Special Talents/Skills: I can speak three languages and make good, educated guesses. Hobbies: Filmmaking, playing sports, reading, and playing FIFA Favorite Spot on Campus: Tava Quad Proudest Moment at CC: My proudest moment happened at the SCAC meet my freshman year. I was dealing with a season-long injury, yet was able to PR in the 400m and triple jump. Directly after, I hopped into our 4x400m and helped our relay team finish fourth with a personal best 400m split. Community Service Experience: I am a QRC Tutor and the President of the CC Society of Physics Students chapter, where I lead workshops and a mentorship program to help others navigate college and postgrad.

Sport: Volleyball Major: Business, Economics, and Society Favorite Class: Philosophy as a Way of Life Top CC Academic Moment/Accomplishment: Successfully balancing athletics and academics on the Block Plan during the season as a first-year student. Special Talents/Skills: Leadership, being a positive and supportive teammate (and I can juggle) Hobbies: Spending time with friends and family, pickleball, golf and being outdoors Favorite Spot on Campus: The hill field area by the Preserve Proudest Moment at CC: Winning the SCAC title with the volleyball team and going to the NCAA Tournament Community Service Experience: I have done work for the Side-Out Foundation, which is a metastatic breast cancer awareness organization that uses volleyball to spread awareness.

Sport: Men’s Swimming and Diving Major: Physics/Geology Double Major Favorite Class: PC261: Electronics was really fun for me. I built a working stopwatch and had a really fun time with my classmates. Top CC Academic Moment/Accomplishment: Traveling to New Mexico for a week in my GY140 class—it was super great and I knew I wanted to pursue geology after that trip. Special Talents/Skills: I can dunk a basketball and can beat Minecraft in under 30 minutes. Hobbies: Basketball, skiing, drawing, watching movies, and traveling Favorite Spot on Campus: I really like Palmer Hall. I’ve had some really fun and inspiring geology classes in there, and the classrooms themselves are cool to study in. Proudest Moment at CC: Helping the men’s swim and dive team win the SCAC title for the first time in program history last year. Community Service Experience: I set up a volunteer opportunity at TRE for the swim team!
