Students: Screening Testing Resumes After Block Break
Thank you for continuing to participate in screening testing. Given the relatively low case numbers on campus and in the county, fully vaccinated students do not need to test this week. Students who are not fully vaccinated should continue testing twice weekly. All students will also get tested after block break; look for an email notification on Sunday and take a COVID test with eMed on Sunday, April 24 or Monday, April 25. As always, if you have symptoms, even if they are mild, please get tested (see below).
During the Block 6 COVID spike, we implemented a temporary policy change, allowing professors to require masks in the classroom. Screening testing continues, and we will return to our campus-wide mask-optional policy at the start of Block 8. Masks remain an important and effective public health tool. At that time, all may choose to wear a mask at any time, for any reason. KN95/N95-type masks are the most protective.

If You Have Symptoms, Get Tested
Testing is important to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. Because new variants are spreading extremely quickly, it’s critical to get tested for COVID if you’re experiencing even mild symptoms. Students, if you’re feeling sick, stay home and contact the Student Health Center at (719) 389-6384 to make an appointment. Employees should contact their healthcare provider and their supervisor.

Help Clean the Air: Build an Air Filter
You’re invited to build a Corsi-Rosenthal box air filter on Thursday April 21, 2 – 3:30 p.m. downstairs in Worner Campus Center (in the old bookstore space). Learn more about indoor air and COVID-19. Faculty and staff may request a Corsi-Rosenthal box air filter for classrooms and gathering spaces by filling in this form.

COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics Continue Across Colorado
Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment continues its statewide COVID-19 vaccination campaign this week with clinics scheduled at a wide variety of community locations including education centers, libraries, shopping areas and other community locations. These convenient locations allow Coloradans to stop by a clinic while out and about in their community. Appointments for all clinics are encouraged and walk-ups are accepted while vaccine inventory is available each day. Vaccines are the safest, most effective way to slow the spread of COVID-19 and its variants and to help avoid the worst outcomes (severe illness, hospitalization, and death) among those who do become infected. Staying up to date with all recommended doses is the best way to keep up protection for you, your loved ones, and the community. Everyone ages 5 years and older should get at least two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Everyone ages 12 years and older should get at least three doses for the highest level of protection.
Additionally, CDC updated its guidance to recommend certain immunocompromised individuals and people over the age of 50 who received an initial booster dose at least four months ago get another mRNA booster dose to increase their protection against severe disease from COVID-19. Masks remain an important tool for mitigation, and we encourage you to wear a mask indoors when case numbers are high and you are more likely to encounter the virus. Check the CC dashboard to find out about local conditions and county COVID community levels to inform your masking choices. It provides quick access to COVID-19 metrics on campus, including daily and weekly COVID-19 testing numbers and positive test results.
