Housing Information for Rising Seniors

Hello Class of 2025,

As we start the academic year, we want to share some important housing updates specific to the current junior class. Our intention is to get as much information out to students as early as possible.

For the 2024-25 academic year, we anticipate limited availability of on-campus housing. We will have 75 spaces allotted for senior housing:

  • Senior housing is allocated to the properties on North Weber.
  • All spaces will be furnished for the 2024-2025 academic year.
  • Housing rates for 2024-25 will be finalized during the Spring 2024 Semester.

Please note the following important senior housing selection dates:

  • Monday, Oct. 30, 2023: Housing agreement opens for class of 2025 students
  • Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2023: Housing agreement closes for class of 2025 students
    • Note: In order to receive a lottery number during housing selection, students must sign the housing agreement.
  • Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2023: Students requesting disability-related housing accommodations should meet with Accessibility Resources. Students requesting accommodations should complete the “Housing Accommodation Request Form” and submit documentation to Accessibility Resources by Monday, Nov. 28. The form can be obtained from Accessibility Resources.
  • Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2023: Class of 2025 housing selection begins at 2 p.m.

Next steps:

  • Residential Experience will send periodic updates and reminders regarding housing selection throughout Blocks 2 and 3.
  • Fill out the senior housing interest form. Completing this form does not guarantee housing. This form helps the Residential Experience team anticipate housing needs.
  • Attend a Senior Housing Selection information session. Dates are posted on the Residential Experience website.
  • Any rising seniors who do not receive a housing assignment via this housing process may be placed on the senior housing waitlist toward the end of the 2024 Spring Semester. We will place seniors in non-designated senior areas after all incoming first-year and transfer students have been placed.

For any student receiving financial aid, please note that your aid does not change if you live off-campus. Determine your estimated savings by looking at your Fall 2023 bill and reducing the charges by any room and board charges on your account. Connect with Financial Aid via email or schedule an appointment if you have any questions.

Visit our website for the most up-to-date information or contact Housing with additional questions. Housing Office staff members are also available for in-person consultation during regular business hours.
Sincerely,

Eve Altman

Announcing the Retirement of Mark Hatch

Dear CC Community,

With deep appreciation, I share the bittersweet news that Mark Hatch, Vice President for Enrollment, will retire from his role at Colorado College at the end of this academic year.

Mark has served the CC community for more than 22 years. During that time, he has demonstrated unwavering commitment and outstanding leadership in the Enrollment Division.

Since 2001, the applicant pool at Colorado College has tripled in size, a testament to Mark’s role in expanding our reach and attracting remarkable students from across the globe.

Under his leadership, the yield on offers of admission — the percentage of students who enroll at CC after receiving an offer — has increased from 25 to 40 percent. The percentage of domestic BIPOC students at CC rose from 11 percent in 2001 to more than 26 percent in 2023, and international student enrollment grew from 1 to 6 percent in the same timeframe. The number of Pell Grant-eligible students on campus also increased from 9 to 14 percent.

Mark has brought several impactful partnerships to the CC campus, including the Davis United World College Partnership in 2005 and the QuestBridge program in 2013. He was also the primary architect of the Colorado Pledge initiative, a bold affordability plan that has increased Colorado enrollment by 30 percent in the last three years. Finally, he has served on many national committees and boards, including as President of the Common Application in 2005.

Above all, Mark has been committed to expanding access and opportunity through the admission and financial aid process. In 2015, he and his wife Anne established the Mark and Anne Hatch Family Scholarship Endowment, which will serve students from low- and middle-income families attending CC in perpetuity.

Mark has spent nearly four decades in the college admission field, including leadership roles at Bates College and Occidental College prior to joining our CC community. He also served as a teacher and college counselor at Harvard-Westlake and Marlborough schools in Los Angeles.

In reflecting on this time at CC, Mark shared, “Working together to support students through this incredible medium we call the Block Plan has felt deeply rewarding as an educator. In terms of the enrollment division, I can say that I have hired, sometimes mentored, and always collaborated with dozens of passionate and brilliant admission and financial aid staff. They have inspired and taught me far more than I taught them. The talent within this community is extraordinary, and I have benefitted personally and professionally through my various interactions with so many exceptional individuals.”

Mark’s solutions-oriented mindset and dedication to students have left an indelible mark on the CC community, and I am so grateful to have worked with him.

In the year ahead, we will have the opportunity to celebrate Mark’s contributions to building a diverse, talented, and motivated student body, year over year, for nearly two-and-a-half decades. In the meantime, please join me in congratulating him on his plans and an exceptional career.

Sincerely,

L. Song Richardson

President

Housing Selection Information

2024-25 Housing Selection

2024-25 Housing Selection

Dear Students,

It’s exciting to have you back on campus. The Office of Housing and Residential Experience has already begun preparing for numerous processes throughout the year.

Housing Waitlist and Room Changes:

Beginning this week, students can request room changes via the housing waitlist process on the Housing Portal. Residential Experience will reach out to students as housing changes are approved and/or spaces open on campus. Please contact housing@coloradocollege.edu with any additional room change questions.

2024-25 Housing Selection:

Returning Student Housing Selection for the 2024-25 academic year will once again be split into two processes: Senior housing selection and rising sophomore/junior housing selection. Class of 2025 students will receive communication with more specific information this week.

Class of 2025/Senior Housing Selection

Class of 2025/senior housing selection will once again be limited to 75 initial students. Students interested in living on campus their senior year will be able to sign their housing agreement beginning Oct. 30. Class of 2025/senior housing selection will occur on Dec. 6, 2023. Residential Experience will facilitate numerous housing information sessions throughout Blocks 2 and 3 for students eligible to participate in the senior housing selection process.

Rising Sophomore/Junior Housing Selection

Colorado College requires all first-year students, sophomores, and juniors to live on campus. Students participating in study away programs or who have received approval are exempt from this requirement. The exemption process for the 2024-25 academic year will open in Block 5 for any students required to live on campus.

Rising sophomore and junior housing selection will occur during Blocks 6 and 7. The housing agreement will open on Monday, Jan. 29, 2024. This year, students interested in living in Language Houses and other LLC Communities will be first to select spaces. Specific selection dates will be shared later this semester. Residential Experience will offer several information sessions regarding housing selection throughout Blocks 5 and 6.

Please visit the Housing & Residential Experience website regularly for updates.
Sincerely,

Eve Altman
