Commencement celebrations are just over a month away!

Class of 2023 Quote: “Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare.” – Audre Lorde

It’s hard to believe, but our seniors are in their final few weeks at Colorado College! Commencement is set for Sunday, May 28, at 8:30 a.m., in Ed Robson Arena.

As we head into the final block of the academic year, and the flurry of year-end activity that comes with it, here is the need-to-know Commencement information for the campus community:

Volunteers Needed

We’re in need of faculty, staff, and student volunteers to support Commencement events. Serving as a volunteer gets you access to Ed Robson Arena for the ceremony, even if you’re not a ticketed guest of a graduate (and for current students, volunteering allows you to stay on campus for a few more days). Email Brenda Soto at bsoto@coloradocollege.edu for more information and specific opportunities.

Faculty Registration
Faculty members must register in advance to march in Commencement 2023 events, including Honors Convocation, Baccalaureate, and the Commencement ceremony. Click here to register.

Ticket Information

A limited number of standing-room-only guest tickets will be available for staff and non-marching faculty after May 22, once students have claimed all the guest tickets they need. More details about how to access tickets will follow closer to the date.

Livestream Information

For family, friends, and members of the campus community who are not attending Commencement or Baccalaureate in person, both ceremonies will be livestreamed at www.coloradocollege.edu/commencement. Honors Convocation, which takes place on May 16, will be livestreamed at www.coloradocollege.edu/live.

Parking, Accessibility, and Venue Details

  • Ed Robson Arena has a clear bag policy, which will be enforced during Commencement weekend. Only clear bags and small clutch-sized purses will be allowed at entry. For more details on this policy, click here.
  • All Commencement attendees may park anywhere on campus (no fees or permits apply), except the first floor of the Ed Robson Arena parking garage on East Dale St., which is reserved as accessible parking for those with limited mobility.
  • Sign language interpreters will be onstage and visible from the jumbotron in Ed Robson Arena. Guests may also view captions on their mobile devices by pulling up the livestream at coloradocollege.edu/commencement.
  • American Medical Response will be located at Guest Services in the arena.

Additional Commencement weekend festivities include:

  • President’s Reception: Immediately following the Commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 28, on Tava Quad until 1 p.m.
  • Departmental Receptions: Click here for dates, times, and locations of all academic department-specific receptions, most of which take place after Baccalaureate on May 27. Invitations are sent from each department.

Baccalaureate Blessings

Students, faculty, and staff are invited to share their well wishes and words of celebration for graduates as part of this special Colorado College tradition. Together, these messages form a communal blessing, sharing both individual and collective love, blessing, and hope for the graduates as they journey forth from Colorado College. Submitted messages will be displayed during the Baccalaureate ceremony on May 27, as well as online. Click here for instructions and ideas for how to submit a message!

Final details and reminders will be shared via email one week prior to Commencement. In the meantime, the full weekend schedule and the most up-to-date information is at www.coloradocollege.edu/commencement. We look forward to honoring our seniors and their accomplishments!

The deadline to apply to graduate is this Friday, April 28. You will not be able to walk in the ceremony in May, or claim your guest tickets, if you have not taken this important step. Submit Your Info for Senior Spotlights

We want to honor the outstanding achievements of our senior students! To be featured on CC’s social media accounts leading up to Commencement, just complete this quick survey, which asks you to share about your CC experience, favorite memories, and post-graduation plans.

Don’t Forget the Next Work of the College Roadshow

Tomorrow! The Work of the College Roadshow: Staff Compensation

Don’t forget to join Ryan Simmons, vice president of people and workplace culture, Lori Seager, vice president of finance and chief financial officer, and Laurie Mozingo, associate vice president for people operations, tomorrow, Tuesday, April 25 at 2-3 p.m., in JLK McHugh Commons, to learn about staff compensation at Colorado College. Discussion items wil be current pay practices at CC, some initial results from our external audit, and approaches to compensation in the 2023 pay cycle.

Roadshows are part of The Work of the College, a year-long series designed in response to the ModernThink employee engagement survey results. The program has four goals: (1) clarify organizational structures and decision-making processes; (2) offer campus constituencies the opportunity to engage in dialogue with leadership about campus affairs; (3) increase decision-making transparency in hopes of building trust; and (4) build community.

The Work of the College series consists of:

  • Community Conversations (dialogue about specific topics)
  • Roadshows (presentations and Q&As)
