The Summer Internship Funding Application is open for 2023. All applications must be submitted through Summit (under the Office of the Dean of the College).

Funding is intended to increase the ability of CC students to participate in internships that are unpaid or underpaid. Each Colorado College student is eligible to receive one award during their four undergraduate years. All internships must be away from the CC campus, and all travel for internships outside of the U.S. must be approved. Third-party programs are not eligible for funding.

The first deadline for consideration is March 24, 2023.
The sooner you start your search, the more proactive you can be for this application. It is unlikely all funds will be distributed at this deadline. Applications will continue to be accepted until funds run out or May 19, whichever comes first.

BLOCK 7 CROWN FORUM: Antiracism Implementation Plan Goals

Establish Antiracism, Equity, and inclusion as Foundational to Our Community Expectations

The FEC’s number one priority this year is to support the college in implementing the antiracism plan goals while upholding academic freedom.  We are co-sponsoring a series of forums from Blocks two to seven with each forum focusing on a specific goal of the antiracism plan.  The summary of feedback from past forums is available on the FEC canvas page.

The next forum will be on Wednesday, April 12, from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Tutt Library 411/412.  This forum is a repeat of the forum from Block 2.  We sincerely hope that you will attend and give us your feedback to inform our future work on implementing the antiracism plan goals.  The goal for this forum is to discuss how to Establish Antiracism, Equity, and inclusion as Foundational to Our Community Expectations.  Please join us for a fearless but mutually respectful dialogue. To make the forum as productive as possible, please review the initiatives that are part of this goal, which can be found here, and review a glossary of ADEI terms, which can be found here.

People Connections – Human Resources Newsletter

A Note from Ryan Simmons

I am excited to announce our HR newsletter: People Connections. The Human Resources team is working hard to partner with you to help CC continue to be a great place to work. We hope the updates in this newsletter will be helpful to you.
In this edition, you’ll meet a member of our team, Sara San Souci, and learn about how you can get the most out of the performance management process. You’ll also learn about a benefit that may be helpful to you. Additionally, we’ll be sharing key dates you might want to be aware of.
Since I’ve started at CC, I have seen how committed the HR team is to your success. If you have experienced a great example of customer service from the team, I’d love to hear so that I can honor their hard work. On the other hand, if you see a chance for us to improve our service, please let me know that, as well, so we can make improvements. You can reach me at rsimmons@coloradocollege.edu
Thank you,
Ryan

Meet Sara San Souci, Performance Excellence Specialist

Sara, a native of Colorado Springs, came to Colorado College in December 2021. Sara is certified through Society of Human Resource Management – Senior Certified Professional and has a master’s degree in human resource management from Colorado State University-Global Campus. She currently oversees the programming related to new employee orientation, Excel at CC, the Pilot Supervisor Development Program, and CC’s performance management and annual evaluation processes.

Annual Performance Evaluation Reminders

As an employee, we want to ensure you have the opportunity for a dedicated conversation with your supervisor to review your performance and work contributions over the last year. The conversation is intended to reflect on successes and celebrate accomplishments, discuss challenges that may have affected performance, and to reaffirm that the work you will accomplish in 2023-24 aligns with the college’s mission and department goals.
During the month of…

March: All staff members complete their self-review. Once complete, send the form to your direct supervisor so they can add their comments. You are also invited to provide feedback on your supervisor.

April: After reading your self-review and taking the time to add their comments, your supervisor will send you a copy of the evaluation form prior to your formal development conversation. All supervisors and staff will have their formal development meetings before the end of the month.  After the meeting, both parties sign the finalized evaluation form.

May: Performance evaluation forms are due to HR by May 5. Anyone who wishes to appeal a rating of “Does not meet expectations” must notify their supervisor and HR prior to May 12, and you will be notified of the appeal decision no later than May 26.
You can find the forms and helpful resources on the HR website.

Benefits Highlight

This section highlights a benefit that is frequently marked as “did not know about this” on our exit survey.

Flexible Spending Accounts

A Flexible Spending Account (FSA) is a way to set aside pre-tax funds from your paycheck to be used to reimburse yourself for qualified health care and/or qualified daycare expenses you incur during the fiscal year. Examples of qualified expenses are eyeglasses, deductibles, co-pays, daycare, etc.

CC’s FSA plans run from July 1-June 30.

If you know you will have expenses, why not save for them as you go? While the funds go into the FSA in equal amounts from each paycheck, the entire amount you elect to put into this plan is available to you on the first day of your eligibility. Eligible expenses may be incurred to September 15 (grace period). The maximum annual amount allowed in the Health Care FSA is $2,850.

Dependent care costs include daycare expenses that allow you and your spouse to work, seek work, or attend school (full-time). Dependent care applies to children under age 13 or other dependents requiring care such as elderly parents. Claims are paid as contributions are made and there is no grace period. The maximum annual amount allowed in the Dependent Care FSA is $5,000 if married and filing jointly or single head of household; or $2,500 if married and filing separately.

Robert Moore’s Farewell Celebration

You’re Invited!

Come celebrate Robert Moore P’13 at his farewell reception, 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19, at Smith Family Gallery, Colorado College Fine Arts Center.

Robert’s influence on Colorado College has been transformative, as he led Human Resources, Facilities, the college’s finances, administrative services, and dining operations since 2009. His work has improved our physical campus, the compensation and benefits of employees, the college’s finances, and the student experience. From July 2020 to July 2021, Robert served as acting co-president of Colorado College. As co-president, Robert provided steady guidance to both the campus community and the Board of Trustees on how to navigate the difficulties of COVID-19 while still providing the best CC educational experience possible under the constraints of the pandemic. He managed financial challenges and ensured that there were no layoffs or staff furloughs.

Formal invitations for Robert’s reception were emailed via Paperless Post on March 17. A memory book is being created for Robert to keep, so if you are unable to attend the party but would like to send a letter or card for the memory book, please send it to Keragan Ettleman .
