Launching Speak Up Colorado College

Colorado College has partnered with OneTrust to develop Speak Up Colorado College, an anonymous reporting platform

Speak Up Colorado College is our 24-hour reporting system where you can confidentially and anonymously submit your concerns. To make a report at any time, go to speakup.coloradocollege.edu or call toll free 1 (800) 461-9330.

Starting today, you can use Speak Up Colorado College to confidentially speak up, share your perspective, ask challenging questions, and raise concerns about behaviors that conflict with the college’s values without fear of retaliation. This is all done while protecting individuals who bring concerns forward.

Concerns can cover a variety of topics, including, but not limited to:

  • Misuse of college assets or funds
  • Misuse of confidential information
  • Violations of giving and receiving of gifts covered under the Code of Ethical Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy
  • Retaliation from any member of the college for bringing a concern forward
  • Discrimination or harassment, including violations of Title IX and Title VII
  • Violation of any college policy or handbook rules or regulations

After submission, you can follow the status and anonymously communicate with the college through the platform about your report. We recognize that it can sometimes take a lot of courage to speak up; any information you provide to Speak Up Colorado College is stored privately and securely and will be treated with sensitivity and respect.

Do you have questions or things you’d like to know about the platform? Email Lyrae Williams, lwilliams@coloradocollege.edu. All questions will be answered and will also help inform a list of FAQs on the platform.

Events and Opportunities

The Summer Internship Funding Application is open for 2023. All applications must be submitted through Summit (under the Office of the Dean of the College).

Funding is intended to increase the ability of CC students to participate in internships that are unpaid or underpaid. Each Colorado College student is eligible to receive one award during their four undergraduate years. All internships must be away from the CC campus, and all travel for internships outside of the U.S. must be approved. Third-party programs are not eligible for funding.

The first deadline for consideration is March 24, 2023.
The sooner you start your search, the more proactive you can be for this application. It is unlikely all funds will be distributed at this deadline. Applications will continue to be accepted until funds run out or May 19, whichever comes first.

Watch the Career Center Funding Website for full details and updates.

U.S. News and World Report Survey

Faculty and Staff:

As you know, there have been several highly ranked law schools (Berkeley, Yale, Harvard) and medical schools (Michigan, Stanford, Columbia) who have publicly decided not to participate in the U.S. News and World Report rankings.

College presidents and deans cite many issues with the rankings; the overall sentiment is that USNWR uses a flawed methodology, prizes wealth and reputation over academic quality, and generally treats every college academic experience as the same. Many college and university presidents are now debating the merits of the rankings.

CC leaders are having the same discussions and input from faculty and staff will inform that thinking. Please answer the four questions in this survey.

College leaders will discuss this with staff at this week’s In the Loop Meeting, and well as with faculty at today’s meeting.

The series creates opportunities for the whole community to gather, encouraging everyone to be part of the intellectual life of the college, and facilitating discourse among students, faculty, and staff, across courses, disciplines, and divisions. Classes are dismissed early on the first Monday of each block so that all may attend the First Mondays event.
