Year-end Health Benefit Updates

Two end-of-year healthcare updates:

  1. Kroger is no longer going to be available as an in-network pharmacy in 2023.
  2. Cigna is in negotiations with Centura and there may be changes to Centura’s in-network status in 2023.

Kroger Pharmacy In-network Status

Kroger will no longer be an in-network pharmacy as of Jan. 1, 2023. Members can still use CVS, Walgreens, Safeway, and other pharmacies. To find pharmacies, go to www.mycigna.com, under the prescriptions tab, choose ‘Find a Pharmacy.’  You will need to log-in (or register if you’ve not already done so). If you need assistance, call customer service 1 (800) 244-6224.

Centura In-network Status

Cigna, our healthcare insurance provider, is currently in negotiations with Centura to renew their in-network status.  They have not yet reached an agreement, and this could cause changes to our health options as CC employees.

If they are unable to reach an agreement, Cigna will communicate with plan members who have used Centura Health in the last 18 months to let them know the agreement with Centura Health as an in-network provider may end on Feb.1, 2023 (if additional negotiations do not resolve the issue). We expect Cigna will send those updates during our Winter Break.

Potentially, this could affect CC employees and dependents who use Centura Health providers through our Cigna benefits. Cigna has a duty to notify plan members within 30 days of pending changes. Any plan member would still be able to see a Centura Health provider after Feb. 1, 2023, but the provider would be subject to the out-of-network cost-sharing after that date, unless the two parties reach an agreement. Cost-sharing can be seen on the benefits website at:  www.mybensite.com/coloradocollege under the medical tab.

We know that you choose a health provider for many reasons, and that this change could be challenging given your potential past relationship with Centura providers.

To help you prepare for any transition, we are providing a list of Centura Health providers and alternative facilities for care. It is our hope that Cigna and Centura can reach an agreement, but we want to provide you with options.

Campus Leadership Searches Underway

Dear Staff and Faculty,

President Richardson recently announced the retirements of three outstanding CC leaders: Mike Edmonds, Rochelle T. Dickey, and Robert G. Moore. We are grateful for these individuals’ service and significant contributions to the college.
In addition, Katharina Groves and Tulio Wolford have been partnering to fill the senior leadership role in the ITS division since Fall 2021. Their leadership has been critical for the success of our community.
We are building on this legacy of leadership by recruiting new leaders to fill these existing positions and continue moving CC into the future. We are working with global executive search and leadership advisory firm WittKieffer to help us find the best possible candidates. Here’s where you can find more about these searches and how to stay informed.

Participate in Prevention Training

Dear Staff and Faculty,

Tragically, suicide is the leading cause of death among young people in Colorado. We, as a community, have experienced the loss and pain that suicide can create.
As part of our commitment to help our community thrive, we will offer online suicide prevention training to all members of the CC community. QPR is a prevention training for participants to be able to recognize the warning signs of suicidal thinking, behavior, and attempts, and questionpersuade, and refer people at risk for help.
Because our campus is safer when more of us have these skills, we are asking that all staff and faculty complete the training by the start of Block 6, Friday, Feb. 27.
You can also take one of the upcoming in-person QPR classes to meet this requirement:
Please register for the virtual training here.
We expect the online training to take about an hour, and the in-person training to take about two hours.
If you want to be exempted from this expectation because of concerns about potential triggering or other reasons, please submit an exception form here. If you have taken QPR training in person in the last year, you will be exempted from this request.
Learn more about the college’s approach to mental health and suicide prevention, and access additional resources.
Thank you all for your commitment to each other’s mental health and wellness.
Sincerely,

Ryan Simmons

Vice President for People and Workplace Culture

CC Launches 24-hour Mental Health Support for Students

Dear Students,

As you know, CC has elevated its commitment to mental health for our whole community. In a letter to the Cabinet, students, and in later months parents and alumni, asked CC leadership to increase student access to mental health therapists.
We heard you.
On top of the many 24/7 services provided by CC Student Health and Wellbeing, the college is launching, effective today, a telehealth service that provides all students with free, unlimited access to therapists and on-demand counseling 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year including holidays.
Key Details:
  • 24/7/365 crisis counseling by trained therapists
  • Ability to schedule recurring appointments with the same therapist
  • Services available to all students in the U.S., including those on leave
  • Students outside the U.S. or studying abroad have access to crisis intervention and on-demand counseling service
We are launching this service for our students because you asked for more support and to have that support available every day at any time. We also recognize that the holidays can be a particularly stressful time for everyone, wherever they are. Please use the QR code below or visit this link to immediately register, choose a therapist, and speak with that therapist. Questions can be emailed to care@thevirtualcaregroup.com.
Sincerely,

Pedro de Araujo
