New students arrive this week! Here is what you need to know to help make New Student Orientation 2022 a success. <\/strong> <\/span><\/h1>\n
<\/div>\n
While we have already welcomed a number of new students to campus, including fall athletes and Bridge Scholars, we are looking forward to greeting the Class of 2026<\/a>, as well as incoming transfer students, on the first day of New Student Orientation on Saturday, Aug. 20<\/strong>! Many will begin arriving in Colorado Springs early and may choose to stop by various campus offices to take care of outstanding business on Friday; we thank you for helping welcome these new CC community members when you see them on campus. <\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span>Detailed arrival directions<\/a> and a parking map will be shared with new students and families today, as well as posted on the NSO web page.<\/a> <\/span>On Saturday, Aug. 20, we encourage staff members who will be on campus to utilize street parking or park in areas other than the C-2 Armstrong and C-1 Tutt Library lots and Robson Arena garage; these lots and the garage will be used as unloading zones for residence halls and the mailroom, as well as visitor parking. <\/span><\/div>\n
 <\/span>Here is some additional information that may be helpful when answering questions from students and families:   <\/span><\/div>\n
NSO Check-in begins at 7:45 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 20. <\/strong>Students and their guests should report to the NSO Check-in Tent on Tava Quad prior to moving into their residence hall. At check-in, we will confirm that immunization and vaccination forms have been submitted (a requirement of on-campus living) and give students their NSO nametag and CC Gold Card. During move-in, RAs, volunteers, and staff will be available to answer questions, lend a hand, and provide directions.   <\/span> <\/div>\n
COVID-19 Risk Mitigation Strategies: <\/strong>Students and guests are <\/strong>encouraged to test at home prior to arriving at campus. Should a student test positive before arriving on campus, they should isolate in place (stay home\/not come to campus) and complete NSO remotely. Regardless of whether or not students test before coming to campus, all students will be given a test kit at check-in and asked to complete that COVID test on the day of arrival to campus.<\/em> Students who test positive should remain masked and will receive additional information about isolation protocol and how to participate in NSO remotely. <\/strong><\/span>Students who test positive should remain masked and will receive additional information about isolation protocol and how to participate in NSO remotely.<\/span><\/div>\n
The on-campus portion of NSO<\/strong> will take place Saturday, Aug. 20 through Wednesday, Aug. 24. The off-campus Priddy Experience <\/strong>will run from Thursday, Aug. 25 through Saturday, Aug. 27, with the return of overnight off-campus trips.  <\/div>\n
After the Welcome Luncheon on Tava Quad, from 11 a.m. \u2013 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20, the New Student Orientation Program<\/strong> kicks off with welcoming remarks from President L. Song Richardson at 1:30 p.m. in Ed Robson Arena.  <\/div>\n
Family and Guest Orientation <\/strong>also begins with the President\u2019s Welcome in Ed Robson Arena and continues from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Cornerstone Arts Center with a variety of information sessions and a resource fair.  <\/a><\/div>\n
Students and their guests are welcome to enjoy a free dinner at Rastall Cafe or check out a downtown restaurant before enjoying Sweet Send-Offs<\/strong> at the NSO tent on Tava Quad from 7 to 8:45 p.m. Family and Guest Orientation concludes at 8:45 p.m.  <\/div>\n
Should anyone have questions about making tuition payments or financial aid, both the Student Accounts Office<\/strong>, located in Spencer Center 116, and the Office of Financial Aid and Student Employment<\/strong>, located in Spencer 134, will be open Friday beginning at 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. <\/div>\n
The NSO schedule takes inspiration from the Block Plan<\/strong> and gives students a taste of a “typical” class day: required sessions are offered each morning and the afternoon is open for them to create their own CC adventure \u2014 attend sessions, explore campus, get to know resources, and prepare for the semester ahead. Students are required to attend at least two conference-style sessions throughout NSO<\/a>; thanks to the many departments and individuals that are hosting these sessions! <\/div>\n
In addition to the Family and Guest Resource Fair on Saturday, Aug. 20, we will also hold a Student Resource Fair <\/strong>on Wednesday, Aug. 24, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.<\/strong> in the Worner Campus Center. If you have questions about the Student Resource Fair, please contact Allis Werkmeister<\/a>. Please contact Janna Jones<\/a> in the Office of Alumni and Family Relations with questions about the Family Resource Fair. <\/em><\/div>\n
CC Fest<\/strong> is happening Saturday, Aug. 27, 4 \u2013 8 p.m. on Tava Quad to wrap up orientation week, with an evening full of activities, a welcome back food truck dinner for ALL incoming and returning students, and will end with a late-night breakfast.
