Today is Community Day! As part of the celebrations leading up to the inauguration of CC\u2019s 14th president, L. Song Richardson, we invite everyone from the CC and broader community to campus for fun and free activities<\/strong> throughout the day.<\/span><\/div>\n

At the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College, make sure to stop by the exhibit \u201cChicanx Landscapes,<\/a>\u201d which explores landscapes as a system of ecology, history, culture, and belonging from a Chicanx perspective, with new works presented by the interdisciplinary artist collaborative, Desert ArtLAB.<\/span><\/div>\n

Starting at 10 a.m. at the FAC, CC faculty will present on all types of interesting topics from how the Fed sets interest rates to the recent Supreme Court rulings to what we can learn from zombies. Visit our website for a full listing of topics, speakers, and times<\/a>.<\/span><\/div>\n

From 10 a.m.-4 p.m., the FAC\u2019s Bemis School of Art<\/a> will host Hands-on Art Day. Pop in and explore your creativity in drawing, painting, and sculpture. Hands-on Art Day will offer a variety of hands-on art projects along with artist demonstrations and interactive, self-guided activities. Bemis instructors will help guide you to awaken your art-making skills or show you new possibilities in making art.<\/span><\/div>\n

From 10 a.m.-noon, experience the new home of Tiger hockey, Ed Robson Arena, with free ice skating; no pre-registration is necessary. Ice skates will be provided free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis.<\/span><\/div>\n

At El Pomar Sports Center, CC Athletics and Recreation will give tours and offer classes and clinics in indoor rock climbing at the Ritt Kellogg Climbing Gym, floor Pilates, lacrosse, rugby, ultimate frisbee, Zumba, tennis, and much more! Get more information and be sure to register in advance<\/a>. <\/span><\/div>\n

Come cheer on CC\u2019s women\u2019s soccer team as they face Army in a home match on Stewart Field at 2 p.m.<\/span><\/div>\n
Remember, classes start at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow, Aug. 29, so that all may watch or attend the inauguration ceremony at 8:45 a.m. Tune in to the livestream and get all of the details<\/a>.<\/span>
