Members of the Colorado College community are invited to submit their ideas for the re-naming of South Hall.<\/div>\n

<\/span> <\/p>\n

South Hall was originally named after former Colorado College President William F. Slocum, who retired in 1917 in response to allegations of sexual misconduct.<\/div>\n

<\/span> <\/p>\n

After an investigation in Fall 2017, the CC Board of Trustees voted unanimously to rescind Slocum\u2019s honorary degree and ordered the immediate removal of his name from the residence hall and commons building. The spaces were temporarily re-named \u201cSouth Hall\u201d and \u201cSouth Commons.\u201d<\/div>\n

<\/span> <\/p>\n

The South Hall Naming Committee, made up of CC students, staff, and alumni, has developed a timeline and process for collecting and thoroughly vetting name submissions.<\/div>\n

<\/span> <\/p>\n

This is an opportunity rename South Hall<\/a> and honor someone who is more representative of Colorado College today and its institutional values.<\/div>\n

<\/span> <\/p>\n

CC community members are encouraged to submit their suggestions for the new name of South Hall.
