E-waste recycling is a vital component of our sustainability efforts on campus. Most electronic devices pose serious risks to our environment if not discarded properly due to the toxic materials used in their <\/span>manufacturing.<\/span> The Office of Sustainability has updated our process to pick up e-waste in order to streamline requests. If your office or department has e-waste, please fill out our new online <\/a><\/span><\/span>form<\/a> to schedule a pickup. Do you know the basics of fixing bikes and want to earn $16 an hour? Make sure you check out the <\/span>PikeRide<\/span> Student Field Tech position on Handshake! Field Techs work with the <\/span>PikeRide<\/span> Operations Manager to assist in rebalancing the <\/span>PikeRide<\/span> fleet across campus and downtown Colorado Springs, taking them to get serviced for repair, <\/span>monitoring,<\/span> and charging bike batteries and performing simple repairs to the bicycles. Some requirements include being able to lift bikes up to 60lbs, having the ability to work independently for at least one 4\u20135-hour shift per week on average, and balancing scheduling needs with other student field techs. CC\u2019s Collaborative for Community Engagement\u2019s (CCE) Week of Action<\/a> has so far been a blast<\/span><\/span><\/span>! <\/span>The CCE aims to further the public purpose of <\/span>a liberal<\/span> arts education by engaging the campus community to tackle pertinent local issues. Splish splash, the Colorado Water Tour was a bash! Close to 20 CC students embarked on the tour, which left campus shortly after Block 1 concluded. Students explored and learned about various water infrastructure projects such as the Catamount and Montgomery Reservoirs and the Otero Pump Station, which alone helps supply close to half of all water to Colorado Springs. They also had the pleasure of relaxing at the Mount Princeton Hot Springs after a fun-filled day! <\/span><\/span><\/span>Rounding off the tour, students visited Larga Vista Ranch near Pueblo, Colorado where they heard first-hand from farmer Doug Wiley about how ranching has changed over time.<\/span><\/span> Student perspectives about the importance of the water supply chain changed over the course of the tour with participant Diana Buda \u201824 highlighting that she \u201cgained a new perspective on how elaborate the process of getting water to cities is\u201d and how she now has \u201can appreciation for the various people who are constantly tending to cities\u2019 water needs and have devoted their lives to this important cause.\u201d<\/span><\/span> Check out future <\/span>Sense of Place trips<\/a> offered through the Office of Sustainability!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> <\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n\n

Founded in Spring 2021, the Campus Compost Program is designed to give students the opportunity to continue building sustainable habits at their residences. Even if you are unfamiliar with how to go about composting at your residence, we have you covered! Colorado College released its first State of Sustainability report in 2014. Since then, we have released annual State of Sustainability reports that provide a benchmark for the college’s overall sustainability performance. These reports are accessible to every individual interested in efforts of sustainability and awareness on campus. Each document uses the STARS\u00ae scoring and incorporates current and future efforts outlined in the sustainability action plan.
