At Colorado College our vision is to prepare our students to create a more just world by providing the finest liberal arts education anywhere.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

We are launching an action plan to provide transformational student experiences for students from all backgrounds; foster courageous conversations and bold actions; build and nurture thriving communities; and raise CC\u2019s visibility, all so that each Colorado College graduate will be prepared to be a positive influence on the world, in whatever area is their passion.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

This remarkable educational experience can\u2019t be delivered without considerable resources.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

Each year the faculty, staff, and students on our Campus Budget Committee develop a budget recommendation for the president and the Board of Trustees. For the 2023-24 academic year, the CBC recommended that the trustees set tuition at $67,458 and the comprehensive fee (tuition, room, board, and mandatory student fee) at $83,160. Their recommendation considered mandated cost increases for insurance, utility rates, and a new state tax on employee wages; increasing salaries for students, staff, and faculty; and cost savings across the campus of over $750,000. In addition, the rising cost of food and labor in our dining operations and federal financial aid requirements for more meal capacity in the college\u2019s standard meal plan were considered.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

I supported the CBC\u2019s recommendation, and last week the Board of Trustees approved the tuition and comprehensive fee changes.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

We know that a CC education is a significant investment \u2014 and it costs more to deliver than what tuition and fees cover. We want outstanding students to have access to this remarkable education regardless of their financial situations and backgrounds. That is why we subsidize the education of all<\/em> students, regardless of financial means. It is also why we will continue to meet the full need of our students with no change to our loan and work requirements. Additionally, the college provides $55.7 million per year in financial aid and more than a third of this increase will fund financial aid.
