I\u2019m delighted to announce that Ty Nagamatsu will become the college\u2019s ombuds.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n

The ombuds is an informal and independent resource for faculty, staff, and students who have questions, concerns, or issues internal to the college, such as matters related to the workplace or learning environment, or concerns about policies, procedures, and resources. The ombuds is one of several resources for campus community members to report issues.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n

The ombuds is not an advocate for any individual or the college but acts as a source of information and referral, helps answer questions, and assists with resolving concerns.  The ombuds also can be a designated confidential, neutral, and impartial dispute resolution professional. The position was created in 2010 to serve staff and faculty. The role is now expanded to serve students as well.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Ty comes to us with more than 10 years of experience in mediation, facilitation, and restorative justice. She earned her bachelor\u2019s degree in political science from Gordon College and her juris doctor and master of laws degrees from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Ty says our people are our greatest asset and she is thrilled to use her experience to facilitate crucial, courageous, and healing conversations to help CC become one of the best places to work and study in the country.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Ty starts her ombuds role on April 3, and her office will temporarily be in El Pomar 321. Campus community members will be able to contact her at ombuds@coloradocollege.edu<\/a><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n
