Open Education Curriculum Development Grant<\/span><\/u><\/span><\/b><\/span> (Deadline 4\/28\/2023)<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

The Dean of the Faculty and the Ad Hoc OER Committee invite Colorado College tenure-track faculty, tenured faculty, and lecturers to apply for a grant to adopt or adapt Open Educational Resources for an upcoming course(s).<\/span> <\/span>Applicants need not have knowledge of or experience with using, adopting, or adapting OER. The library will provide experienced professionals to support faculty and instructors throughout the process. <\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/b><\/span><\/div>\n

Goals:<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/div>\n
Open Educational Resources (OER) are teaching, learning, and research resources that are free of cost and access barriers, and which also carry legal permission for open use. Generally, this permission is granted by use of an open license (for example, <\/span>Creative Commons licenses<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span>) which allows anyone to freely use, adapt and share the resource\u2014anytime, anywhere. \u201cOpen\u201d permissions are typically defined in terms of the \u201c5R\u2019s\u201d: users are free to <\/span>Retain, Reuse, Revise, Remix, and Redistribute<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span> these educational materials.<\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

These grants are intended to lower barriers to education by increasing access and lowering costs to students, advancing ADEI initiatives, promoting collaboration, and advancing Open Education at Colorado College. <\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/div>\n
T<\/span>hese will be summer salary grants that funds the work of adopting, remixing, and adapting Open Educational Resources to eliminate existing costs to students through commercial textbooks and other course materials. <\/span>The typical project should be completed and ready to be implemented in your 2023-24 course(s).<\/span><\/span> <\/span>Depending on the nature of the work, the largest projects of creation of OER do not need to be fully completed by the end of the summer, though substantial progress and a plan for completion will be expected.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

Salary Grants: Types and Amounts <\/span><\/b><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
Grants will be offered and awarded at the following amounts, to support the following types of projects:<\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
    \n
  1. Adopt existing OER course materials for use in a course: $2,000.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Adoption of OER course materials for use in <\/span>multiple<\/i> <\/span>courses: $3,000 max per person <\/span><\/li>\n
  3. <\/span>Adapt, remix, or create OER course material for use in your course(s): $3,000-$6,000. What type of course material do you plan to <\/span>Create<\/i>, <\/span>Remix<\/i>, or <\/span>Adapt<\/i>? The creation of significant supplemental materials for an existing resource is a form of adaptation (e.g., making an OER test bank for an OER book). Authoring something new is creation. <\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Group Projects: $6,000 max<\/span> <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Requirements for the Grant<\/span><\/b><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

    1. Implement your adoption or adaptation of the OER by the next time you teach the course in 2023-24.<\/span> <\/li>\n
    2. Complete grant surveys<\/li>\n
        \n
      1. before curriculum development, <\/li>\n
      2. once the course is built, and<\/li>\n
      3. once the course is taught.  <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
      4. <\/span>Agree to participate in an interview, workshop, or panel discussion about your experience. <\/span><\/li>\n
      5. <\/span>Agree to allow the library to promote your OER material.  <\/span><\/li>\n
      6. Agree to license your OER text\/course material with an open Creative Commons license, and you must deposit the material on our institutional repository, digitalCC. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
