Instructional Coaches,<\/span> Instructional Coaching Program Participants<\/span> Mentoring Alliance Program Conveners <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h1>\n

In line with our institutional anti-racism commitments, The Crown Center for Teaching Instructional Coaching Program <\/span>is designed to support CC educators\u2019 anti-oppressive pedagogical development<\/span>.  <\/span>The program leverages CC faculty knowledge and skills by hiring interested CC faculty who then serve as coaches to fellow faculty seeking instructional coaching support<\/span>.  <\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
\n
Become a Coach:<\/span> The IC program seeks to hire three-five new instructional coaches for the 2023-2024 school year. Instructional coaches serve as pedagogical thought partners who <\/span>are responsible for<\/span> <\/span>observing<\/span> and supporting the development of one \u201c<\/span>coachee<\/span>\u201d colleague throughout an academic year through four coaching cycles<\/span>.  <\/span><\/span>Coaching cycles include a pre-observation conversation, a 2-stage classroom observation using the Inclusive Pedagogies Observation Protocol (IPOP <\/span>foundations<\/span><\/span><\/a> and <\/span>advanced<\/span><\/span><\/a>), and a post-observation debrief<\/span>.  <\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

New coaches are required to attend an instructional coach training from 10-3 on August 18, 2023.<\/span>  <\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
\n
All coaches, including returning coaches, <\/span>are required to<\/span> attend a semesterly <\/span>check-in<\/span> on Thursday November 30<\/span><\/span>th<\/span><\/span> from 3:30-5pm and Friday April 26<\/span>th<\/span><\/span> from 12:15-2pm.<\/span> <\/span><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/span>Instructional coaches<\/span><\/span><\/a> are paid $2500 each academic year to support the professional growth of one <\/span> coachee<\/span>. <\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

Get a Coach<\/span>:<\/span><\/span> The<\/span> IC program invites faculty and instructors of all <\/span>ranks<\/span> including visiting instructors, to sign up for the Instructional Coaching Program. Instructional coaching includes use of the <\/span><\/span>Inclusive Pedagogies Observation Protocol (IPOP <\/span>foundations<\/span><\/span><\/a> and <\/span>advanced<\/span><\/span><\/a>) but is also flexible depending upon your goals and needs. <\/span> <\/span><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

The <\/span>coachee\u2019s<\/span> teaching challenges and successes revealed through this program are not shared with department\/program chairs, mentors, or colleagues<\/span>.  <\/span>Privacy and confidentiality are taken very seriously because we want this program to be a space where educators can be vulnerable, can experiment with new teaching approaches, and feel supported as they learn and grow as teachers<\/span>.  <\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

Participants in the coaching program must commit to two coaching cycles per semester, proactive scheduling, and communication with their Instructional Coach. Participants <\/span>are also required to<\/span> attend a coaching program orientation on Thursday August 24<\/span><\/span>th<\/span><\/span> from 2:30-4pm, and semesterly check ins on Tuesday November 28<\/span>th<\/span><\/span> from 3:30-5pm and Tuesday April 23<\/span>rd<\/span><\/span> from 3:30-5pm. <\/span> <\/span><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

Mentoring Alliance Program (MAP<\/span>)<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
\n
The Crown Center for Teaching MAP is based on ADEI values and principles<\/span>.<\/span> <\/span>The program<\/span> <\/span>support<\/span>s<\/span> <\/span>early career faculty by fostering collaborative and non-hierarchical relationships <\/span>and <\/span>by honoring their<\/span> <\/span>new ideas<\/span>, energy, and experiences.<\/span> <\/span>The program also provides faculty with opportunities to develop their <\/span>capacity<\/span> for robust, intentional, collective, and interdisciplinary mentoring to strengthen the college\u2019s retention <\/span>efforts.<\/span> <\/span>The<\/span> program is available to early career tenure-track and full-time visiting faculty.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

Become a<\/span> Convener<\/span>: <\/span><\/span>MAP convener <\/span>commitments<\/span> include<\/span>: 1) convening your assigned team of <\/span>early career<\/span> faculty to meet <\/span>blockly<\/span> in the team\u2019s first year and at least an average of every other block for year 2 and beyond<\/span>; 2) engaging in <\/span>a one<\/span>-day mentor development workshop (A<\/span>ugust 21<\/span><\/span>st<\/span><\/span> <\/span>, <\/span>10-<\/span>3pm<\/span>); and 3) participating in check-in meetings during Blocks 3 and 6<\/span>.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
\n
MAP conveners must be tenured faculty<\/span>.  <\/span>MAP conveners <\/span>who <\/span>a<\/span>nticipate<\/span> <\/span>semester-long sabbaticals may serve as conveners and be temporarily replaced by another tenured faculty member who has completed the mentor development workshops. Those who <\/span>a<\/span>nticipate<\/span> <\/span>year-long sabbaticals may serve as conveners and be temporarily replaced during their sabbatical only if their sabbatical is not scheduled during the team\u2019s new <\/span>early career<\/span> faculty members\u2019 first, third, or sixth years<\/span> (for tenure-track faculty teams)<\/span>. <\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

MAP<\/span> conveners <\/span>are<\/span> <\/span>compensated<\/span> $2500 stipend per academic year o<\/span>f<\/span> service in this role.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
