Over Spring Break, a group of eight CC students attended the Model United Nations Conference in Washington D.C. Zeke Lloyd \u201924, traveled with the team and served as the reporter for their experience. Follow the team\u2019s story as they trained, traveled, and competed amongst the best of the best.<\/em><\/p>\n

Arez Khidr \u201925 has twelve hours until the attack begins. Still, he remains calm and crafts a cunning speech about the situation at hand. Taiwan\u2019s humble collection of ships, planes, and infantry face slim odds in a head-to-head fight against China\u2019s oncoming fleet. Khidr, playing the role of President of Taiwan, looks at Louise Dellarco \u201925, Taiwan\u2019s Minister of Defense. He finds firm determination etched into her face. They both understand the stark reality \u2014 without U.S. intervention, their island is lost. <\/p>\n

Since 1952, the Boettcher Foundation<\/a> has appointed scholarships to students they deem to be the next generation of dynamic thinkers and leaders. Graduating 2020 Boettcher Scholar Annette Leyva \u201924 embodied that rich tradition throughout her four years at CC, working to ensure the civil rights of all Coloradans.<\/p>\n

Leyva graduated, with a degree in Political Science and Spanish, into life beyond CC as the new South Regional Organizer for Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition (CIRC), a statewide coalition building a unified voice to improve the lives of immigrants and refugees in Colorado and across the country. Leyva will leverage grassroots strategies for capacity-building and spearhead local campaigns to advance the rights and well-being of immigrants in Southern Colorado.<\/p>\n

Dr. Lori Driscoll \u201994, Professor and Associate Chair of the CC Psychology Department, and Marla Patanelli, Academic Administrative Assistant in CC\u2019s Political Science Department, were awarded the 2024 Bob Pizzi Outstanding Advisor of the Year Memorial Award. This is a CCSGA award given by students to the faculty or staff member they deem the most helpful advisor.<\/p>\n
