In 2021, Assistant Professor of Mathematics and Computer Science Dr. Beth Malmskog was awarded a $249,926 grant from the National Science Foundation in its Launching Early-Career Academic Pathways \u2013 Mathematical and Physical Sciences (LEAPS-MPS) program. Since then, Malmskog has used this grant to support several research students, develop a research collaboration incubator for CC\u2019s Mathematics and Computer Science Department, direct research-focused travel, increase the opportunities for underrepresented students and faculty in mathematics, and offer a Bridge Scholars Program course that uses inquiry-based learning modules. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt was such a great honor and joy to be awarded this grant,\u201d Malmskog says. \u201cI had a set of ideas and activities that I believed in, so it was really affirming and exciting to get the chance to pursue them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Next week, July 27-August 1<\/strong>, the Colorado Springs Conservatory Musical Theater Intensive will have 5o people on campus for rehearsals of Curtains<\/em> in Armstrong. Performances will be the weekend of August 2-4, with 200-300 people expected to attend.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, August 8<\/strong>, 90 people from D11 will be on campus for some professional development in South Hall and Gates.<\/p>\n

Deksyos Damtew \u201922 has been named one of ten 2024 Marshall-Motley Scholars. He has received a full scholarship to the law school of his choice, as well as access to internships and professional and career development opportunities.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a student at Colorado College, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in civil rights law,\u201d says Damtew, a former CCSGA President and International Political Economy major who did his thesis on racial biases in investment in Africa. \u201cMy selection as a part of the fourth cohort of the Marshall-Motley Scholars Program makes this dream a reality. The support provided by this program is life-changing, and I am grateful \u2014 grateful to my family, friends, and mentors who were willing to walk with me through the application process, grateful to those who are eager to stay by my side as I start law school this fall, and grateful to the Legal Defense Fund for their confidence in my application.\u201d <\/p>\n

Now that he\u2019s graduated from CC, 2020 Boettcher Scholar Samuel Frykholm \u201924 plans to continue focusing on international politics and security through the Master of Science in Foreign Service program at Georgetown University\u2019s Walsh School of Foreign Service. Frykholm will begin the program this fall with hopes of a future career in public service with the U.S. Federal Government.<\/p>\n

Changes are Coming to PikeRide Subscriptions<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n

The updated PikeRide membership through CC will give you 30 minutes of FREE ride time per day<\/strong> during the year with no unlock fees. Once the initial 30 minutes are used, any additional ride time will incur a charge of 25 cents per minute, billed to the rider.<\/p>\n

CC students, staff, and faculty members interested in longer rides can purchase a discounted annual membership, but registration requires a CC email.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n
