Dr. Rebekah Taussig, a disability advocate and educator who has been paralyzed since the age of three, will challenge everything you think you know about disability. Join Taussig and the CC community on Wednesday, Feb. 2, 7-8:30 p.m. for the latest presentation in the \u201cDismantling Hate\u201d series: \u201cDismantling Misconceptions of Disability.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n

Taussig has a Ph.D. in creative nonfiction and disability studies. In her memoir, \u201cSitting Pretty: The View from My Ordinary Resilient Disabled Body,\u201d Taussig asks the question \u201cWhat would it mean for disabled folks if society saw us as acceptable, equal, and valuable parts of the whole?\u201d She will invite us to think bigger and more critically about who has a seat at the table and the barriers that bar others from inclusion.<\/span><\/div>\n

The <\/em>Dismantling Hate: An Educational Series Toward Understanding and Action series<\/em><\/a> is a campus-wide initiative that provides programming for CC students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members from the Colorado Springs area.\u202fThe purpose and goal of this educational series is to support our communities to better understand hate \u2014 its roots and outcomes, and to motivate people to take action to dismantle hate.\u202fEach educational program in the series features a conversation with an activist, broadly defined, who shares their work and experiences dismantling hate against marginalized communities.<\/em><\/span><\/div>\n
