Each year, CC joins our partners in the broader Pikes Peak region to commemorate the life and legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. As committed partners to creating a more just CC, we encourage you to find ways to engage in community building, service, and an ethic of care on MLK Day and throughout the year.<\/p>\n

This year, MLK Day coincides with the first day of Block 5 and the Presidential inauguration. This means there may be many demands on your attention and time, and I urge you to extend your commitments beyond a single day.<\/p>\n

As we seek to cultivate community, I hope you will consider the opportunity to meet our neighbors at the Pikes Peak Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Preservation Society\u2019s annual commemoration, including the All People\u2019s Breakfast<\/strong>,<\/strong> and the USAA Unity March to Acacia Park<\/strong>. Reserve your space for the breakfast here<\/a>. This year\u2019s theme, Mission Possible: Protecting<\/em> Freedom, Justice, and Democracy in the Spirit of Nonviolence 365<\/em>, will be addressed by Issac Ferris Newton Jr., nephew of the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., at the Antler\u2019s Hotel downtown. The Zeb shuttle can provide you with convenient, free transportation between campus and the Antlers.<\/p>\n

The Office of Institutional Equity and Belonging will be attending. If you would like to join us, please email adei@coloradocollege.edu<\/a> by Thursday, Jan. 16 so we can include you in our plans.<\/p>\n

I know that many of you have already signed up to serve our community partners through the Collaborative for Community Engagement (CCE) Week of Action. We encourage you to find additional opportunities through the CCE, United Way<\/a>, or other local agencies and truly put social justice into action.<\/p>\n
