On March 12, the Colorado College community lost the person who has quite possibly left the biggest impact on the College, his work and legacy shaping campus and academic life at CC forever. Glenn Ellis Brooks, Jr., Professor Emeritus of Political Science, former Dean of the College and Faculty passed away at the age of 93 after a short illness. Brooks is regarded as the creator of the Block Plan.<\/p>\n

In her tribute to Brooks, CC\u2019s Chaplain Kate Holbrook writes, \u201cGlenn was a true servant leader of CC in, and outside, the classroom. He was a highly effective professor, whose engaged teaching and mentorship inspired generations. He encouraged students to be their best and most-authentic selves, even if it meant flying in the face of filial duty and expectation, retaining his students\u2019 names and stories until his dying day.\u201d<\/p>\n

Twenty-five years ago, Martin Quinn \u201903 was a first-year student at CC. He had just completed his first season as a member of the Men\u2019s Soccer team under head coach Horst Richardson, and woke up on a Friday morning, ready for a mid-block accounting exam, preparing for the upcoming Block Break. But life had different plans.<\/p>\n

\u201cI woke up that morning and had this terrible, terrible, headache,\u201d says Quinn. \u201cI took five or six Advil \u2013 I\u2019m a kid from Ireland so I didn\u2019t know what Advil was \u2013 and went and took my exam. Then later that day, I went up to Denver with some friends and we were going to go up to the mountains the next day. But I just had continued headaches.\u201d<\/p>\n

Visitors are invited to watch staff dust and polish the massive glass chandeliers hanging throughout the museum created by artist Dale Chihuly.
