Former Colorado College and current Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Jaccob Slavin \u201917 will represent Team USA at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy. The Games begin Feb. 6.<\/p>\n

Slavin will be the ninth former Tiger to compete in the Olympics, the first since Mike Testwuide played for South Korea in 2018, and the sixth to represent Team USA.<\/p>\n

The Centennial State Tournament Comes to Campus<\/h1>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n

CC will host the Centennial State Tournament<\/a>, an annual speech and debate competition that serves as a qualifying event for a national tournament held in June. Students from across the United States will be on campus from February 11-14<\/strong> to compete in an impressive lineup of events, including three forms of debate and 12 speech categories.<\/p>\n

Tournament activities will take place in Cornerstone, Armstrong, Palmer, and the Worner Center<\/strong>. During this time, the campus community can expect increased foot traffic in these spaces, as well as the lively energy that comes with speech events\u2014some of which may include raised voices, expressive movement, or theatrical props. This spring, CC is partnering with the Colorado Resiliency Arts Lab (CORAL)<\/a> to run a study on arts and wellbeing in higher education contexts. We are looking for volunteers to participate in the spring semester and share feedback on their experiences. The study, designed to help faculty and staff connect, explore, and reduce stress, is open to full-time faculty and staff. A limited number of spaces remain in the Visual Arts and Writing cohorts, held on Tuesdays from 4:30-6 p.m. in Blocks 6 and 7. As a small group of students gathered to plan CC\u2019s 2025 Fashion Show, they discussed the future of fashion and the meaning of futurism. At the next meeting, Ashanty Garcia \u201927 asked to share a statement she had written.<\/p>\n

Garcia, who would take over the leadership of the Sustainable Fashion Club after founder Nathalie San Fratello graduated in 2025, inspired the group with her vision. It provided a broader context for the theme of the 2025 show: \u201cDreamspace: Futures of Fashion.\u201d<\/p>\n
